3 days straight of rain here, we have had no summer to speak of. lots of rain and cool temps. its going to make for a wet mildish winter here.. how does El Niño affect the weather patterns where your at? what do you expect this winter to be like in your area?
I don't nkow if el nino effects Canada and to what extent, but the weather this summer has been really shitty. 31 days of july, 17 with rain, never gone over 30 degrees Celsius, average temp 22 celsius
It forms a dark cloud over my head when it it gets talked about on tv ad nauseum. As luck would have it, I havent had to worry about it for awhile.
It's been raining pretty much non-stop over here too for the past month or so. I'm thinking the winter will be pretty much the same.. rainy, damp, grey, miserable. Yay.
I'm happy with the rain. I haven't had to water the garden in days....but the grass is getting too damn tall.
need the temps to warm up here. our gardens are easily a month behind harvest wise even though we planted at our normal time. i dont mind the rain. it had been a few days since the last spell. things were getting dry. we have not had to water anything this year. a welcome blessing after the drought we went through the previous 3 years.
We've had an extremely mild summer here. Very unusual. Cool temps, and lots of rain. I'm fed up with all of the rain, it's depressing.
It is still super dry here, I can't even remember the last time it rained.. But we did have a thunderstorm with no rain about a month and a half ago. but an argument could be made that these thunderstorms were a calling card of an increasingly energetic atmosphere, and a developing El Nino. Also, we did get snow last winter, which is something that has never happened.. But what el nino will mean here will be late summer fires as the Santa Ana winds come through..then mud slides during the winter with heavy rains..sounds like many "State of Emergencies".. here is a picture I took this past winter on one of my very local mountain..ele. 3013..this was the most snow in recorded history for this area. Kinda ridiculous I know, but really.. of course, we have plenty of snow in the winter at the higher elevations about 45 minutes north..Big Bear and the Sierra's only 4 hours away..but, this is about as much as we'll ever get.. I still got snow man making skills..my friend was with me and he didn't even know you roll it to make larger balls..what a rookie.. Finished deal with 2 snowmen but the picture ended up small..
We've been getting rain almost every night. It's weird and slightly inconvenient, because the roof at work leaks really bad under the AC in the dining room, and my front door at home leaks, so I've gotta keep putting towels in front of it to keep from ruining the floor. I like rain, though, especially since I went out to my favorite spot at the lake and saw half of it now has GRASS and no water.
It's about to get more fun? "Starting in early June 2009, observed tides have been increasingly elevated above predicted tidal elevations along the entire U.S. East Coast from Maine to the east coast of Florida. During the period from June 19 thru June 24 for instance, these water levels were running between 0.6 to 2.0 feet above normal depending upon location. As of July 1, these anomalies continue, but running lower at 0.3 to 1.0 ft. above normal. It is not unusual for smaller regions and estuaries along the U.S. East Coast to experience this type of anomalous event at this time of year, however the fact that the geographic extent of this event that includes the entire East Coast event is anomalous. CO-OPS will continue to monitor this event and will provide further information on the causes, amplitudes, geographic extent, and the duration of the event. We've barely had a summer this year. But for the past week it's been nice and hot, so hopefully it continues.
Looks like we could have an El Nino comparable to 1997-1998 The north wind doth blow, and we shall have snow Hotwater
They said el nino was back, fucker's been sending the jet stream on a collision course for us for the past month.
