too all of you who participated in changing the world back in the 60s. what would you do now? seeing everything that is going on in this country now. what would you do... what could i do?
I'm sure everyone asks themselves these; but the piggies and the big men in suits upstairs are asking themselves how to keep that from happening again. So they take away our rights, control and imprison us, control us with fear, anything to keep that from happening again.
i know. im not saying we should repeat the 60s im saying we need to think of ways to keep our rights and or freedoms now, ways to educate people of whats going on, ways to just... change things.
The Gadsden flag hangs in my yard EVERY day, warning the piggies and suits. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not happy with the way the world and our country is today, but I will also be the first to admit that I am damn proud of what my forefathers did and the idea they had for our country, but it's sort of a lost dream. I will stick to that dream and stick to my beliefs before I ever let any government office control me, and if a new revolution were to arise like it did in 1775, in 1861 and in the early 1960's, I would proudly join the cause and I'd even say I'd proudly fight and die for it.
So how old is old. I finished school in /67 got a job and found out about herb Ya I guess I'm an ol hippie. Had good times back then.
The world is not like it used to be, or this country anyway.. It's full of sheep, that are content to sit on their ass and let the government take care of them.. The young people need to wake up, and revolt like we did.. Question authority, don't be lead around by the nose. Easier said than done, i know, you only have two choices, stand up and be an individual, or follow the establishment, and the establishment today is leading us down the road to socialism, which means less freedom.. Peace
We started with going green, trying to get back to the garden. You can only change how you live, love and fight, not anyone else. You can show thwem a better way and hope they change their minds. We changed a lot of minds back in the day. The kids/us, were not as hostile and ready to kill as they are now, we had respect for life. We were ready to fight if we had to and brother did we have to!! It was a WAR. The MAN was out to stop us. They thought they did, but we scattered and headed for the hills/country. We raised our babies to believe in a different way. Some took to the way of Great Spirit, some took another road. We will be the ones that rise up out of the ashes when all is said and done. We will reclaim the Earth, our Mother and our tribes will uninte and we will regrow the land. Bright Blessings sh
If we brought back the draft and made even the children of rich people serve ... hate to say it, but I think we would see some big changes.
Lead your life the way you think is right and hopefully you will influence other people. But, yeah, young people today don't seem to have the urge to change what they think is wrong with the world. Actions speak louder than words is a bit clichéd but it is the truth.
i keep hearing people say that the youth of today is lazy, should be out speaking there mind, ect. i want to know what they think needs to be done. (be specific)
Well, there are the time-tested methods of street protest and writing letters to politicians and newspapers. Altho I guess so few people read newspapers any more that might not be effective. You could call in to talk radio and shock them that there are people other than ditto-heads out there. These days I think the main thing that is missing is street protest. Just before the unjustified Iraq War started, there were huge huge protests in Europe and smaller ones here. But after that, even when the falsehood of WMD was exposed, etc. etc., there were few protests in America. The election of Obama was encouraging, tho. It certainly does seem to me that American young people have become pre-occupied with unimportant things and are not getting outraged with the way they are being manipulated by corporate interests and the rich.
I have to agree with Sunfighter, the young today are to preoccupied with themselves. The draft would make a big difference in how todays young would view just how imbalanced the social structure of this country is. The only thing that seems to matter, at least in my eyes, is the advancement of self. The greenback has become God. In their quest to find that God, no one else matters. Don't misunderstand me, I'm sure there are some who really do care, but the violence and selfishness has overshadowed their efforts to change the status-quo. I do not claim to have the answers, but the unwillingness of the young to get involved in changing a system that benefits the few instead of all, is something that should be given a lot more attention.
I would of went to Nam and just killed anyone and everyone, unless you were a good tom boy. It is stupid to think about changing the past, but it's a pleasant day dream at times. I don't think the current state of the world is that bad at all, it's really about personal....reality or illusions, it's hard to discern.
the draft is already coming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON-RaCq7i4U 3 months of mandatory service for people 18-25.
Abbie killed in himself. I see it as a hara kari of sorts. Rubin became a salesman - of energy drinks. I wasn't around - and I'll to be too old if it happens again - which is won't. The 60's were the childern of WWII - the baby boomers. It has been said that a person with nothing to lose has everything to gain, but a person with something to lose, will hesitate in thinking if the lose would be greater then the fight. So they offer you 4,500 for a new car, make promises of reform, show you the candy they have in mind. And most people suck it up. The only real method to achive freedom is to rip of your cloths, burn down your house, and live off the earth. Course, you'll miss your tv programming on that 60 inch plasma, and the never ending supply of Cheeses Its. I'm not saying that the 60's were a failure - but it didn't bump the wheel of existence out of its rut, maybe a small and brief wobbling occured but nothing more.
They changed the world in the 60s did they? Nothing has really changed, we might have a few more gadgets to play with, but life is still a race
