i want to dread my hair, but it is kind of short now because i cut it. its pretty curly, but much longer when i straighten it. would it stay semi-straight if i started dreading them? i dont want to have short dreads to start with.

curly hair knots up well, but thinking that, they might shrink too but dont quote me on that.
If you backcomb yes they will stick out, twist and rip method(not as painful as it sounds) wont make them as poofy. But they are only sideshowbob looking for a week or 2 and you could wear a hat :)

Mine were really poofy because I chose to have really thick ones and I backcombed. I was only sideshow bob for like 3 days. And I lost alot of length right after I backcombed but hopefully I don't shrink alot more. But i just might.

aw maybe ill wait until my hair grows out more. or use another method, i need to do some more research. plus, my hair is kind of thin, so if i did thick dreads there wouldnt be many.

if you backcomb your dreads will stick out, and it looks goofy, but when i did mine i liked it. :)

there are threads on here about dread hair and length, but if you want to do it, do it!

with curly hair dreads will be a snap, especially if you let them dread up on your own.

all they need to succeed really is patience and love.

i used to never brush my hair. would it be easy to form dreads if i stopped brushing it again and just started twisting?
