ok so generally the "regulars" on this subforum have no problem with the "drama" so whats the problem?

 

I guess if you like just the regulars thats fine then, but if you ever want to talk to more than the same 5 people somethings gotta give. But i don't really see things changing.

 

I'm not trying to say how this "place" should, or should not be....and I'm not asking for more "e-hugs" and things of that nature...I did not even know what an e-hug was until today (pardon my ignorance). All I'm saying is perhaps some of this shit just gits a bit ridiculous when people go on for pages back and forth about some petty bullshit because for some minute reason (usually, as it is the internet) there's someone they dislike and feel the need to publicly demonstrate it in a rather asshole-ish manner.

I'd say I could care less, but I suppose I care enough to have started a thread in hopes that it dies down a bit...this sub forum use to be full of so much good advice and truly interesting convos...naturally that's just personal opinion, and there's still undoubtedly some very "interesting" convos. All in all, do what you want....I was just a bit curious to see if there were still any of the older members who perhaps saw things similarly.

That's just it....if only everyone could adopt that mentality. It doesn't mean they need to have the same ideologies etc, just be a bit more accepting and not so harsh on eachother perhaps?

There is some teasing, some arguments and some drama occasionally... that sort of thing is bound to happen from time to time,but I don't see it all being hateful and hurtful ??

Maybe this is where you and I differ.
I don't think people with the sort of thin skin( that would get "put off" by other posters teasing or arguing on a message board) belong on a message board in the 1st place.
If you can't take a joke don't go to the comedy club.
...but then you have 49 posts,so it's hard to take your opinions of the board seriously.

 

I don't think he was trying to say that people cannot still joke and what not, rather that there's a clear line between continually flaming someone and just joking around.

 

That line apparently being in the eye of the beholder. Lulz is lulz is lulz, you only get flamed if you give a fuck about what people are saying.

no, he said that it wouldn't be inviting to new people to see that, (that being MY post of "teasing and arguing")
- which has nothing to do with whether it is a flaming or a joke.if a new person is put off from posting by seeing OTHER people be harsh to one another they probably shouldn't be posting.. that is the sort of sensitivity that is not advisable on ANY message board...
hell, this one isn't near as hrsh as others I have been on.

 

When someone starts to attack another's character and is clearly no longer joking around I find picking up on that to be more common sense than being personal logic (opinion).

It seems like you are interpreting this as a "jokes and fucking around with eachother isn't ok" type of statement....it's not,that shit is fine and you cannot tell me that it does not become entirely evident that people are being assholes in those situations. Even on a forum where there are no facial expressions or tone of voice and whatnot to interpret it's pretty obvious when it's no longer in jest.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone...it's pointless. But after he said he agreed with what I had to say, it's pretty easy to conclude that he thinks that there's a difference between joking and flaming. So when he made that statement it's kind of just putting two and two together...

You know I think a lot of it is what you chose to see and contribute.
Want this board to be happyflowerkittyland? approach someone you know is all bubbles and rainbows and be nice back and forth. make a thread about your love for them, joke back and forth.Avoid the flamers, and the debate. If someone argues or says something nasty let it slide and move on with your cheerspreading.

...want it to be all flamewars , debates and arguments- then argue every point you can, tease at every opportunity, approach those you know are argumentive and be an ass back.Be nice to noone-talk mad shit.

There are a lot of people on this board.
You can get advice , flames, compliments and disses all in the same thread,and often in the same paragraph- the thing about a message board is it is made of a lot of different people including YOU,and YOU chose to make it what it is.

that includes turning it into a whiny flamefest by contributing that.
You can associate with the posters you think make it a better place,
you can feed the trolls , you can take a joke, but you can't blame the entirety of the board for being a certain way
.. because quite honestly, such things are pretty fluid and ever changing- based on the POSTERS themselves... and that includes the people that come in and look around not taking the time to try and enjoy it of find the positive ,the complainers, the people that enjoy the jokes and flamewars, the debaters , the advice givers-and everyone in between .

I am just so tired of this shit.
the ever lamenting "this board isn't exactly like I want it to be"-has been posted on every message board I have ever been on , on a monthly basis.
