lol yeah right.. that is not the worst that can happen.. say you have Terracotta, Lead, Steel pipes under your foundations leading to mains that shit could clog up, many many feet into to line..

Backing up not just the toilet. You will see the backup water and sewage come up the Air/vent pipe onto to roof of your house. That is nice to have a bunch of poop and piss on your roof.. :D

Ok, so no biggie right?.. you have a Auger :) Auger snake breaks pipes under the house, now making one small problem into a $2000.00, $4000.00 plumbing bill..
Seen it happen so Im not just saying this..

I flush mine and have yet to have a problem. It would be disgusting even if your dog didn't chew it up....walking into the bathroom and there's a bloody tampon staring you in the face....nasty!

This thread has made my stomach turn. Good job.

Just begging for plumbing repairs are we.. mark my words, call Joe the Plumber and ask if it good for the lines or sewer system itself.. They dont break down in septic, they dont break down at all. Somewhere in the future youll see.. And i wouldnt put it past some landlords, that if you caused the damage they would make you pay for it..
Prolly way safe to let Fido get them out the trash, Although they are not good for dogs either. Dog could swallow them and it will absorb up the water the dog drinks, swell up in the belly , and dehydrating the dog. :(

Aren't dogs drawn to blood, though? It's like, the recognize that someone's fertile or something.

Isn't it like, an instinct to protect their den(or home) from other predators that would be drawn to that smell?
