Men have every right to have their own manly website where they can be sophinistic pigs; honestly, its like the Man Show... somewhere where they can fart, burp, laugh at crude jokes, smash beer cans against their foreheads, watch football, grunt, eat disturbing amounts of cheetos and beer, etc.
Love askmen.com, good fashion and interesting articles. If you actually take the time to look around the site you'll see it's actually pretty legit and they have a few female commentators/writers.
Most men won't even understand why that's insulting. But at least they got some good history in there, instead of just focusing on their tits. And the women on the list were all strong, smart, accomplished women, not just bimbos with silicone.
If ya give this site moe than just a quick once over you 'll find that its a good site that teaches a guy what he should know in order to be a well rounded Man. Finance and Work(Career) Do you ladies really want a broke jobless guy? Fashion and Style: Do you ladies want the guy with the mullet 'do and the tight rolled whitewashed jeans? Sex and Dating/Relationships> Do you ladies really want a guy that's clueless in bed and in his relationship with you? I Know very few women that want a wussy, pushover moma's boy. Askmen.com's main Dating guru Doc Love tells men to be gentleman and not to rush sex. Matter of fact he advises readers to wait a few months This website is hardly anything like The Man Show. Just check out their articles on travel and on vegetarianism. Overall a good site but they do tend to be a bit yuppish. They've had articles knocking dreads, ganja smoking,Bob Marley tapestries and Birkenstocks.
I never knew the site existed till now.. still dont care to visit it either. If its anything like a Maxim magazine.. boring.
A lot of women too. I'm really struggling to see what is wrong with this article in particular. The 10 hottest women in history: including Charlotte Bronte, Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth I, Princess Diana. When terms such as disgusting/fucking disgusting are used to describe this article, I dont think the majority of the sisterhood is going to agree with you, let alone the guys. As for the site itself, very tame compared to some of the crap on the web. Any girls that appear semi clothed are doing it voluntarily. Maybe a better strategy is to go after sites that are disgusting and scary like those upskirt ones
That's not a very good line of reasoning. It is terrible that for Women's History Month, a month meant to be designated for the study of contributions women have made through out history, we are once again asked, "okay, but which ones where would you fuck?" If it's that incomprehensible that teaching others how women - even those of great accomplishment - should be reduce to "hot or not?" is insulting then it doesn't say much about how far we've progressed equality as a social norm. In fact, part of me believes that these "tame" articles are more harmful than the upskirt sites. Yes, those sites are disgusting but I think most people can easily look at them and when asked recognize why they are harmful. As you said, most people would not understand how the ideas of these "tame" sites promote women as sexual objects rather than equal human beings. I believe our society takes more of a beating from "tame" sexism because it slips into the general mass consciousness and enables people (of both sexes) to uphold their bigotry. When a person takes sexual advantage of a women without her permission, most people will denounce it as "bad". If a person ignores the work of a women who has struggled for years to complete a Ph.D. and instead constitutes on if she is cute or not, most would not say a word. Yet both arise from the same idea that women should be physically pleasing and that other traits (such as intelligence or consent) are less important. As a second point, just because a women is consents to be photographed in that way doesn't always make it right. I choose to work in a job where I am constantly harassed by men. Just today, I had someone - a total stranger - walk by and grab my arm, squeezing it some and asking if I felt as pretty as a looked. He then invited his friend over to do the same. My boss has told me that my job is to look pretty, like a good housewife. I work in a family restaurant. No one forced me into this job, I have the choice to quit. That is if I want to enter one of the worst job markets in the country (my area has the highest rate of unemployment in the nation) as a young twenty something, drop out of college because of my inability to pay, lose my insurance and so stop receiving medical treatment for my ongoing cystic condition, more than likely have to stop my volunteer working helping advocate for immigrants and refugees, and hurt my family making them suffer financially. Sure, I have that choice, but I think on some level most people know what I "choose" to do when this stranger physically grabbed for me. I smiled and I laughed, because my other choice wasn't much of a choice at all. Voluntarily doesn't always truly mean voluntarily. Sometimes it means that, as a women, she found herself with very few options left other than exposing herself to men, allowing sexual misbehavior to be directed at her, because her other choices seemed worse. Even those that did make this choice freely, I wonder how many of them as young girls attended school where the only time they heard about a women was when she went mad or was beautiful. Is it a choice when a little girl is shown the history of men with a footnote about how some women also did some things, and here are the hot ones because that, that right there is the most desirable trait. Don't worry about civilization, men will uphold that, all a women needs to do is be sexy and maybe, just maybe, she'll make a Top Ten Hotest History Chicks list one day. I sure such thinking couldn't have all played into their entirely voluntarily choice.
