unfortunately i couldnt make it to nationals this year, tho i would have loved to, having spent some time in the rio grande gorge myself. im sure the NM mountains were breathtaking, and am looking forward to hearing stories and reading posts of the experience. luckily i was able to go to my own family gathering up north, taking the little cousins fishing and whatnot. can anyone point me towards any regionals going on closer to the midwest before it gets cold? i know the shawnee usually goes down in october. any help would be great! thanks fam i'll see you next year
people on this forum seem very reluctant to give any helpful information to newcomers... fuck it, lets just argue more about the downfall of the american economy
you've gotta find out about most of the gatherings by word of mouth... if you can't get to a gathering to find out where the next one is, call up a light line in your area, or where you're going...
Some regionals have consensuses about not posting to the internet such as Katuah (GA, NC) (late June) and Cumberland (KY May), Others simply don't post such as Quebec (August) and NERF (New England) (August) www.nerflings.org, Many do not happen every year like Arizona, Ithaca, California and New Mexico. Others are the talk of the newsgroups like Ocala (FL) (February) Mississippi (November) and Southern Illinois (October). I know I've missed several and need to keep my head down anyway... so i hope this helps. Often, if not always, finding out about gatherings, planning and the travel there and back are as much the experience/adventure/lesson as the gathering itself. See ya there! Oh and one last piece of advice, once you've located an actual "Howdy Folk" checked out who is behind it, made personal determinations about legalities/permits/leos/etc. then IGNORE ALL RUMORS OF CANCELATION AND SHOW UP! Show up early for council and seed camp, stay late for clean up and dig in! http://www.hipgallery.com/photopost2/showphoto.php/photo/98730/cat/500/ppuser/11159
