Anyone else out there love this show? I've been watching original L&O (with Lenny.. I love you Lenny) for YEARS but now, Dick Wolf has come out with the spin-off, Special Victims Unit... yah ok he did Criminal Intent too, but the lead guy on CI makes my head ache... but SVU, I watch it every day, that's so sad.
Richard Belzer, and Ice-T have a chemistry. No Doubt about it! There's a NEW one out next year. Lenny retires, and goes to work for the D.A.'s Office as a Private Investigator. Lenny get's ALL the best lines!!!
Especially the lines about his ex-wife! (ex-wives?) Also, rumour rumour, I heard that Olivia is leaving SVU (soon?) to join Lenny in his new PI thing. Anyone hear anything about this?
I also share the feelings about SVU versus CI. In Criminal Intent you can watch it for years and never get the feeling that you KNOW the characters. The male detective mentioned his mother once and the female talked about her parents just briefly in passing, "Dad used ______ to wax his car," or "Mother always told me ______." You never get the feeling as if they have any sort of life outside of their day in/day out jobs. The guy cop from CI also reminds me of Data from StarTrek:THE NEXT GENERATION. Is there ANYTHING that guy doesn't know? Higher math? Every language under the sun? Makes and models of cars? Psychological theory? He was even able to diagnose Asperger Syndrome! As for SVU... who wouldn't think that Elliot is hot? Marine, cop, tatoo and four kids. Sad that the last episode had his wife cut out on him. I was pissed however when I taped an episode (the alleged rape) and at the very end they wanted the audience to decide whether he was guilty or not guilty. The characters are extremely well developed; who's an alcoholic, who is phobic, who is a bleeding heart liberal...
I love it too! Though sometimes I wonder if it's healthy to fill my brain with such violence and evil, even if it is pretend...
SVU feels like family. You can tell they're family to eachother, and it makes it like family to the viewers. And I agree, the lead guy on CI knows too much, it's really rather unrealistic. If he's SUCH a genius, wouldn't he be working for the FBI or something? I thought the ending of the last episode was dreadfully annoying. I mean, I can see the point and everything, but still - open endings piss me off. I wonder what this week's is going to be about....
