I saw the movie but I didn't really care for it. I thought the director was trying to be to in vogue instead of trying to develop the characters. It should have been vampires first and slick and stylish second. Or maybe it was just to 1980's look.

It looked old and stale and well out of date.

Now If you're looking for a real vampire movie than I suggest Kathryn Bigelow's 'Near Dark' or perhaps one of the best werewolf movie 'The Howling'

Haven't watched it in ages but recall enjoying it. Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie were fabulous.

    ForestNymphe,

There are some movies that hold up well over time and become classics, and then there are others that are just period pieces, which don't hold up over time and transcend generations.

so unless your nostalgic for the 1980s (and I don't know how anyone could be) than the movie looks old.

    Just my opinion

I do not miss the eighties. AT all. *lol* But I liked the movie. while it is certainly no "classic", I enjoyed it for what is was.

"It looked old and stale and well out of date."

    Not at all.

The movie could of been made this year. The apartment in New York has no icons to the 1980's at all and Catherine's dress sense is total Chanel..her hair actually has a style popular in the early 1940's but then she is an imortal vampire!

Even the opening music Bela Lugoi's Dead by Bauhaus is as well recieved today as it was upon its release in the eighties, maybe more so.

The make up effects of Bowie ageing so much in the space of 2 hours would look well in any of todays movies, testament to the ground breaking effects of the day.

The film hasn't dated at all.

    Quite splendid,frightening and sexy.

the movie tends to be of interest to bowie fans and goths only.

i thought it was long and boring but i like bauhaus so the first minute was good!
