A birthday in jail

Last night..... Or early this morning actually was fucked.

I really can't believe this happened. It's easily one of the most fucked up things to ever happen to me.

Ok, so me and my dad stayed up 'till 3 in the morning talking about music and shit so we were pretty tired.

I'm laying and all of a sudden I hear "Ian. Ian wake up." It's my dad yelling from downstairs. Then I'm like "whaaaat?" and he says "It's an emergency get up".

I went downstairs and he's like "we need to go to tammies". I'm said "what the hell happened" and he's like "jay beat her up and sarahs over there". Sarah is my younger sister.

So anyway it's 4:15 in the morning and we don't have the car because my mom took it to work (she works nights) and we had to walk to her house.. It's only 10 minutes away but that felt like a long time.

Jay is my uncle and he's the same uncle who caught me selling weed. He's had a bad past with coke and the liquor but he cleaned himself up.

Anyway as soon as me and my dad got there my aunt was on the porch with a towel on her face and she was crying and stuff. She wasn't dying or anything so my dad said "where's Jay. Where is he".

She said she didn't know. She also said it wasn't his fault for hitting her and that just made my dad even more pissed.

He said "that's it Jay you better have a bat!" Then my cousin comes running out and she says "he's in the garage". My dad went up to the garage carefully and opened the door because he thought he was gonna jump out and attack him.....

But then we open the door and turn on the light and he's lying on the fucking ground drunk as fuck. My dad picked him right up and started saying "what did you do to her, what did you do to her" and he was like "I was defending myself" and stupid shit.

My dad said "you know what, your not even worth it" Then he dropped him. Literally dropped him right to the ground, he was so god damn drunk.

He told my sister to call the cops. Then he got up and walked away and tried getting away but he could only wabble around. He got halfway down the street and then he grabbed me and said "I was defending myself Ian, she bit me, she bit me Ian". He looked so sad, I felt bad for a second.

My dad ripped him off me and he fell on the grass. Then the cop pulled up and stuff and did the normal cop routine. Then the really funny thing happened. The cop said "so whats your date of birth" and my uncle said "oh... today".

My cousins were really scared because they just saw there mom get beat up. My dad had to go explain to them that he's going away for a while now and that was probably hard.

My aunts eye is fucking huge now and her face is all beat up. This was such a fucked up night.

Damnit, now it's 8:15 and I haven't gotten any sleep. I just got home like 10 minutes ago too.... Fuck this was messed up.

sorry to hear that , your poor auntie, even if she did bite him, he shouldnt have hit her that hard

 

I dont even know who this guy is.. but I bet he says some funny shit, just use your imagination..

Well technically she did start it.

She hit him first and scratched him up. She even bit his fingers somehow....

She even told him to do it.. Still he should have just walked away.

 

at this point it sounds like she is rationalizing the abuse by believing that she caused it/deserved it... a typical behavioral trait among battered women

 

its fucked up and sad

but it doesn't sound like serious abuse

it sounds like she really DID start it, like both she AND he said, and as the kids can probably vouch for

i mean, the chivalry thing ends when a woman is trying to hurt you. then it doesnt matter that shes a woman, it matters that she's physically tearing into you. drunk or not i would have fought back.

the fact that he was drunk as hell probably led him to go overboard

its a bad situation, but whatever. i think it's odd he got taken to jail when both he and she said she started it.

all abuse is serious abuse. domestic violence is a serious issue - wake up. and im sorry but a busted up face and a black eye is completely overboard. the man couldve restrained her or better yet ----gotten away. very simple - get out of the situation. its not up to him to act like a coward and beat a woman down. now hes the dumb fuck because hes probably sitting in a jail cell instead of calling the cops ON HER.

Sorry to hear about your night Cap'n. When I was reading I thought at the end you were gonna say it was your birthday. That would've been a huge bummer.

i do admit (as i previously stated) that he went overboard.

and yes, domestic violence is a terrible problem, ESPECIALLY when there are kids around.

but hitting a woman who is trying to hurt you is not out of line simply because she's a woman, and they were BOTH fighting, and they BOTH admit she started it. a fight is a fight, not inherently abuse. i think in his drunken state he took it way too far, obviously, but i think they are BOTH to blame. hitting back is quite different from terrorizing and mercilessly beating on someone for no reason. this may be domestic violence, but it takes two to fight - i dont think he's innocent, i just think they BOTH have to take responsibility for their individual actions.

obviously he went overboard and obviously its a big deal. but i dont think it's fair to put all the blame on him. obviously drunkenness is no excuse for going overboard, but i still don't think this is nearly as bad as a man just going home and beating his wife for no reason.

 

sucks dude, but a real man would never hit a woman.

just wanted to say i feel for you.. i'm sorry you had to go thru that. being in that situation between family members and seeing abuse is really intense and sad. sorry man eace:

 

yeah when all is said and done this is a very unpleasant and unfortunate situation one way or another.
