do you like hip hop?

if so, what do you like?

i like a lot of different styles, but most of what i like is not the stuff currently being played on the radio often (or at least, wasn't last year when i occasionally listened to the radio - i can't remember the last time i heard a radio)

but i like a lot of new stuff like quasimoto, mf doom, talib kweli, jedi mind tricks, mos def, madlib, and so on. i also like a lot of older stuff, too, including some groups that started out a good while ago but are still around, like de la soul, public enemy, the pharcyde, kmd, etc.

how about you? do you like hip hop? if so, what are you into?

most of the artists you mentioned, I listen to and thoroughly enjoy. I'm pretty into mobb deep and wu-tang

rap/hip-hop for me comes in phases. I'll listen to nothing but rap for a month, and then won't listen to it again for three months.

I am much much much more into rock for some reason, I appreciate instrumentals more than I appreciate beats for the most part.

 

i remember that song cyclone or whatever from a while ago. i liked it at the time, but i dont know what i'd think of it now

 

They've upped their style/production soooo much since then. Check out anything off of Speakers & Tweeters or Rum & Coke to see just what I mean. Also, THPS2 much??

i like a lot of rock, but i really cant stand MOST hard rock. of COURSE there are exceptions, but in general its just not my thing. i do like some placebo a lot though, and while not usually "hard" rock (and ALWAYS weird/instrumental) i also adore rasputina. and primus is pretty awesome, too, really.

but you know what i mean, i'm just not so much for modern rock in general. there are exceptions, but i dont listen to it as much as classic rock, hip hop, jazz, or even classical and baroque music sometimes.

that's first tier. then comes eminem (fuck off), Dead Prez, Immortal Technique, NWA

 

I'm not so much into newer rock either.... jazz and classical music is fucking amazing. so is ambient.

how do you feel about animcal collective? I fucking love them, haha. I'm seeing them in a week for the third time this summer.

btw I forgot to mention immortal technique. love that nig.

i don't really know animal collective, but i'm sure i might have heard a song at some point. ive heard very mixed things, but unless i know a person's musical taste i generally don't put too much stock in what they do or do not like.

What ambient are you into? The only band I'm familiar with is Eluvium.

imho, bone thugs isn't so much good as just fast

Oh i would enjoy them still. It just hasn't happened yet
