I live in the country. But I have lived in a small town, we lived on the outshirts of a very small town only one traffic light, could ride our bikes to the creek to swim on hot summer days close enough to school that I could walk there. We moved to the country when I was 16. I love the country, I could never live in the city.:)

im not sure what i live in, its kind of like a country/suburb but i've rode horses all my life, and i would love to just live in the country with miles and miles of free land to just walk or ride, love the country and would no doubt about it hate living in the city!

I can't stand the noise and density of the city, and the suburbs are too soulless. I also felt the worst when I lived in populated places and there were all kinds of people around but I had no friends.
I like the small town I live in now but it is almost all people over 50, only a few people my age. It's so peaceful out here and I have a big garden. I'd rather live somewhere with more intact nature though, I'm in the middle of corn and bean fields in Illinois. I want to move to the West because people seem cooler there, there are more mountains and wild lands and land is cheap. I'm afraid I'm going to have to move to a larger town to find a job. The economy in my area of Illinois is very bad now.

You're right about the wild lands, but remember that "cheap" is relative. Forget California, of course. In Arizona, you might be able to find undeveloped desert far from the city for three or four thousand an acre. Same with Idaho or Utah. If there are any improvements on the land, then you're talking five to ten thousand an acre. Nevada might be less expensive, I don't know. Other than Vegas or Reno, Nevada is pretty isolated.

Yes, the eternal dilemma ... how do you live away from the city, when that's where all the jobs are? Unless you're an writer/artist or something, or you can telecommute, it's very difficult. The best of luck to you in finding something :)

I live in the suburbs. I love living in the suburbs ... cleaner, safer, greener, quiter. Just generally a very nice place to live.

I live in a city. I would much rather live in the country. Or even a super small town.

I live in the city, and I wouldn't trade even for a billion dollar mansion out in the suburbs or country.
