HA! I guess Reggae is fine. If I already know you... I just don't like confusing dancing with a signal of interest.
Sure. There's street music in every city in the world. But usually the quality of the music is inconsistent at best. You won't see this quality of music in the street very often: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je0qtdZNuSc
From my experience, the DJ caters to whoever gets the party cracking. We usually hit a spot go dumb on the dance floor and then all of a sudden the DJ spins Bay Area shit. Sometimes we even approach the DJ and tell that muthafucka to spin what we want. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
It looks that way, but I would say most times the club policy and what kind of "crowd" the club owner is trying to attract speaks louder. In Manhattan today, the crowd clubs are trying to attract on 99% of cases is bougie white bitches. The quality of the music dips accordingly... It is particularly vexing to me when it is supposedly a working class/black party and overtime, because the bougie element is constantly seeking the next trendy thing to do, the promoters, DJs, and club owners start catering to them because that's where the money's at in terms of drinks expenses. Edit: Not to mention the NYPD harasses the shit out of black parties anyway because Manhattan is supposed to be all white kids now. An island of prosperity for business...if it wasn't for my knucklehead friends I would never party in Manhattan at all. Keep in Brooklyn, The Bronx, the unpretentious places. But then of course, you got to watch your back a little more. But I think given the choice I prefer it...
So it's only English people that just find a fairly warm room with a touch of music and get pissed. You guys want bells and whistles too?
