In my experience people move to California and turn into hobos, or get drugged up and die. I don't fancy hopping freight trains, and I also like not being dead, so I avoid that state.
The major impediment to living a hippy dream in CA is the cost of living. Safety isn't a huge factor, but you have to be smart. The big cities are just like other big cities; most people are good but some will try to take advantage.
Oh yea, to the Op. I thought I should say this since no one else did.........YOU'RE 16! You're still a kid.
Well, I was just referring to the only people I've known to run off to California. They ended up hobo and dead. I don't know any Californian prostitutes.
i wouldnt mind living in a quieter area of california someday perhaps if i have a stable enough income to do so comfortably. i dont foresee it in the near future, though. i'd just want to give it a try for a short while, though, then go north a bit to oregon or someplace
oh little one.. please don't move here. maybe take a vacation here.. but go back home. california is a fictional place in many folks minds. it is nothing like you think it is. as a california native.. i'm just being honest when i say.. if you really really really want to live here.. get a good education where you are now.. become a doctor or a lawyer or something that is high paying. save up at least one million dollars.. then move to california... don't have any kids either... you're young.. make plans.. dream.. save all the money you can.. but always have an 'escape' plan for when things don't go as you hoped.
southern california is lame as hell, consumerism dominates. central cali is a wasteland of drugs and hookers, northern california is heaven
