for your sphere of interests or work, what are the things that inspire you the most to create and continue to evolve in this thing..whatever it is. do you always have one source of this inspiration or do you constantly change your points of view and the things that can keep you going ? do you chase your goals until you finally suceed with them or exactly the oposite ?
after thinking about it a bit more though, I wanna say, I constantly change my point of view about things.. my opinions change and evolve with time and circumstances. I think my inspiration for whatever I create is very urban. I spend the day in Paris and my writing changes, I spend the night in New York City and I wanna redecorate my room.. I listen to an album and I have a new favorite show, I watch a show and I change my make-up.. I mean it's pretty random.. but I think what I'm into - what I like influences me to like other things and it's an ongoing circle that influences my thoughts about anything and everything.. it's hard to express, really, I don't know if this makes sense. But as far as school, and my career ambition go.. I just wanna succeed in whatever I start - when I have an idea fixed, I have to get it right and I have to be the best. It's like a competition with myself.. I feel better about myself if I can succeed in what I have decided to succeed in - now if I don't really want something, if I don't really care - forget it. I try not to set too big goals for myself or look too far ahead though. I used to do that and it made me very unhappy. One step at a time, within reasonable limits.
Nice post #16 Penny.Great attitude.--------Leonardo DaVinci always inspired me for the amazing things he came up with in his time. Now ,I worked in a lot of jobs before I was 30.Put dashboards in Mustangs at a Ford plant, threw chain on the floor of an oil drilling rig, plastic molding company, farm work,on and on-had no plan really.tried banking like my dad did his whole life and hated it.But when I blundered into a roofing job in my late 20s ,I really liked it.I was loading wood shakes for a bunch of roofers and they were nailing piecework and making 100 bucks a day in the 60's.They were really fast at nailing and I thought I could do as well.I was always very fascile with my hands and it turned out I could nail on half a big house in a day by taking it to a new level by "stick-nailing".Sticking the nails in the wood just before I smacked them with my hatchet.Sounds like a simple thing to do,but I was inspired by carpenters and others on job sites standing in front of the houses I worked on being amazed.Made me feel good, made some large bucks and I could quit whenever I wanted and hippy around as long as I completed a house.Of course I could almost do it my sleep,so I lived in the past or the future in my mind as I was working. Those days are gone, but I always felt good helping folks by doing nice work.
For the most important part of my life, the HipFora, my inspiration comes from all of you at RT. Some people inspire me more than others, but everyone is part of my inspiration.
