Hey guys. So I'm planning on getting a QP in the next couple weeks. I'm gonna take 3 of the 4 ounces to university with me and keeping the other ounce at home. My problem is, I need long time storage tips. I'm talking from the beginning of September to the end of February storage.

I've heard of freezing weed, but I find this tends to dry it up. Am I fine to double bag it and keep it in one of those sealed ziploc containers? The ones you use for fruit and stuff. I know it's impossible to keep the shit in perfect condition, but will this maintain the weed for those extended periods?

yeah, you need a humidifier, like the one you can store expensive cigars and keep em fresh as long as you want.

I'd just use an airtight jar in a place with no light. As long as you aren't planning on storing it for more than a year you should be good.

yes, a humidor will work but you'll want a jar humidor if you want to really keep your herb nice. nicer humidors look better and the spanish cedar alters the flavor nicely as your cigars age, but they are very rarely 100% air tight. it's generally believed that a very slight amount of air exchange between the humidor and the outside world will help your cigars age better. a jar humidor is generally considered cheaper and inferior to a spanish cedar humidor because a) it is not made of wood to help with aging the cigars b) it is more airtight and not at all breathable c) storing your cigars upright can damage them easily.

but all of these things make it more ideal for weed :D

i suggest the jar humidor i linked to, it should be nice, and it says it has the capacity for 25 cigars in it (probably rather small cigars - i usually find capacity estimates to be very generous and probably based on coronas, which are cigars about the size of a blunt, rather than the robustos, toros and churchills people are more often smoking these days)

i would expect you could get at LEAST an ounce in there, possibly more.

you'll also want to get the humidor juice which is a mixture of distilled water and propylene glycol which helps maintain proper humidity. the thing in the lid is a sponge in a plastic cage (to prevent the sponge from directly contacting your smokes). you soak the sponge in the juice and then set the thing somewhere for half an hour to let any excess moisture drip out of the sponge. if anything will drip out, you want to make sure it happens BEFORE it goes in the humidor and drips on your weed. i suggest setting it face down on a couple layers of napkins. wipe the plastic clean with a fresh napkin after you've gotten rid of the excess juice. the propylene glycol helps to regulate the evaporation of the water and will keep humidity at roughly 70% at room temperature - which is the perfect level of relative humidity to keep cigars fresh without them getting too wet or too dry (both are disaterous!). this should work nicely for keeping your herb as nice as the day you bought it :)

put the humidor in a dark place at room temperature, and the weed will stay nice for quite a long time.

if you don't want to spend so much money on it, i recommend just getting a large glass jar with a nice airtight seal. again, keep it in a dark place at room temperature.

Airtight glass or metal container will Keep herb fresh for months. Avoid plastic at all costs, as tricombs will stick to plastic. The best method is a mason jar with a good seal.

go to your local cigar shop and they usually carry little micro humidifiers you have to recharge in water once a month for like a minute
they are like a dollar lol
they work great for keeping herb fresh and if you ever find some old forgotten bud you can usually bring it back to life with those :D

Trichs stick to metal as well. There is a bunch of kief stuck in my buster that will not come off unless I take a razor blade to it.

Shit. uhh. Just keep it in a jar in a dark place. mason jar, or freeze it.
Dont store in plastic... It doesnt last long in there. It may still look and smell good but it will burn super fast.

You can also use a lemon peel and what not to try to rehydrate some bud.
