I've been thinking about doing the chewing method for Salvia because you get a different effect from doing that. So if I were to chew salvia, would it be better to purchase the Salvia leaves instead of the extract?

it seems to be the general consensus, but i've never tried it.

keep in mind you'll have to dip them in water and then let them absorb a little first to rehydrate a bit or you'll end up with a mouthful of crumbly dried leaves.

    fresh would be better.

Yes I heard about putting the leaves in water for a bit. I think it was for 20 or 30 min or so?

i don't know off the top of my head.

i'd be afraid it would extract some of the salvinorin a though

How many salvia leaves would you need?

i don't remember off the top of my head, but i think it's usually said roughly 5g foliage, or something like that. probably wet weight.

if you look up a salvia FAQ this kind of information will likely be in it.

here's a pretty easy method which seems to work...

get .2 or .3 grams of 10x salvia extract, a piece of chewing gum, and 40% or higher alcohol.

chew the gum until you can work it around in your hands (won't take long), then once it is soft you should stretch it out and sprinkle the extract into the middle of the gum. fold the gum over and into a ball so you have the salvia in the center/surrounded by gum.

then, pop the gum back in your mouth and take half an ounce (1/2 a shot) of alcohol into your mouth but don't swallow it. once evrything's in, just chew the gum and hold all of the spit/salvia juice and alcohol in your mouth... this is important because salvinorin is destroyed by stomach acid, so you'll want to keep everything in your mouth so that it gets absorbed properly.

just chew for 15 minutes... the spit gets warm and disgusting but it's really not unbearable. if after 15/20 minutes you don't feel anything at all, you can take a bit more but this amount/time should work fine. once the time's up you can just spit everything out. be careful where you spit as i hear salvia juice will permanently stain clothing.

good luck, post back if you go through with it, whether it's this method or not... i'm interested to hear how it goes.

What kind of alcohol should I use for this method?

anything 40% or over will work... vodka, rum, whiskey, anything. i'd go with vodka, personally, because the taste isn't *quite* as strong as others.

the higher the alcohol content the better, but alcohol burns so be careful about how high you go. 40% should work fine anyway. again you only need like half a shots worth, not much.

I think I'll try rum or tequila for this. Thanks for your help. :)
