Yeast Appreciation Society yeast is alive too. i think we should appreciation so say YES to YAS and NO to YEAST
....no as in "yeest) - Yeast is alive! It is a microscopic, single-cell organism that, as it grows and ferments, produces alcohol and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide bubbles get trapped in the gluten strands of bread, causing it to rise. The most commonly available form is active dry yeast; the tiny organisms are dehydrated, and therefore dormant due to the lack of moisture. Yeast should be "proofed" (or "activated") in water heated to approximately 110 degrees F. " or "The magical ingredient of beer. A microscopic fungi that is able to convert sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide in a process know as fermentation. " or even "The enzyme-producing one-celled fungi of the genus Saccharomyces that is added to wort before the fermenting process for the purpose of turning fermentable sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. " for more information on yeast consult your local GP
YAY for YAS!!!!! We brew our own stout in this house....need the yeast. And bake our bread...need the yeast. And will make wine this year....need the yeast!!!!!! Yeast is important!! Love the yeast!!!
Yeast bubbles in enthusiasm...knowing we will bask in its glory!!! It is only pained when we show no appreciation!! Yeast knows it is there to help us....and loves doing so. It bursts with happiness to see the enjoyment it brings.
Right on BABY!!! And sweetie I can see by your sig that you do indeed know what you're talkin' bout!!
I love stout, and sour dough and whole grain bread, and wine....so yep, to me its important. I keep my life as simple as possible and take great pleasure in the simple things. Thus I am thankful to be able to make our own stout as most American beer lacks flavor. I love to make my own bread because I know exactly whats in it and it is cheaper to make a good loaf of nutritional bread at home that to buy it in the store. And Wine.....MMMMMMM We will go to a local pick your own strawberry farm next year and gather a ton of strawberries and turn them into something purely delightful....wine. But until then, I will be making apple wine. So its all relative, whats very important to me...may not be to you.... But, I think you would love some of my bread when it comes out of the oven and I put a bit of real butter and some of my cherry jam on a slice.... And heck Nathan...now that you're 69, I could even treat you to some "real' beer...lol
Well hell, I LOVE beer. My favorite is 'Red Stripe' Jamacian lager. It's so good. But, I would love for you to treat me to one...
