A couple of nights ago I had a dream that I was working at a record store and dropping acid. I've never tried acid before- hell, I haven't even tried a cigarette before. And I don't work at a record store, either; I work at a clothing store. But there I was. I was actually "tripping" in the dream too. I don't know how strong the hallucinations really are when you're on acid, but in the dream I just remember things being weird colors and whatnot. The walls weren't talking to me, and despite the cliché, my hand really didn't fascinate me all that much. ;)

Anyway, I remember coming home and trying to hide from my mom that I was high. I remember being successful until I dropped some of it on the floor or something to that effect. Then I woke up.

That was such a weird dream. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me- yeah, like most people, I'm curious about drugs and what getting high would be like, but I don't feel the overwhelming urge to do them. I have no idea why I'd have a dream like that...

I think our mind is one of the safest places to explore new things and sometimes when we don't have more pressing issues we often turn to exploring things we have'nt tried yet in our dreams.

Our fears and our expectations get to play out different scenarios with no actual consequenses, unless you let the events of the dream influence you that is...

I had a dream a few years ago where I did heroine (I don't think I can even spell it, let alone bring myself to doing it) we drank it out of a cap (shows what I know) and some really weird kaka came about...

Don't think I'd ever try heroine, unless I was like 90 and ready to die...then I'd do some of that and go ride a roller coaster or something.

    ...hope that helps:p

i've had a large number of pot smoking dreams. never touched the stuff in my life though. maybe it's probably from semi wanting to, but not bringing yourself to do it in reality.

I'm glad to read that you don't do drugs and cigarettes, and don't have a driving desire to.

I come from a family that ALL did drugs, some don't anymore, but I was the only one out of the six of us who has NEVER done drugs. Also, both my parents smoked, but none of us four kids EVER smoked cigarettes.

You are ahead of the game, and you should know that there are people who respect you making that kind of choice for yourself.

If you don't feel the urge to do drugs, just don't do them. If you have cool dreams, you don't need them, anyway! For better or worse, right or wrong, drugs are illegal, so that is just one of the many ways in which they could fuck up your life. The other is your health, and your finances, and your friendships too.

I have had dreams in which I did drugs (pot and cocaine) and in the dream, I did the drugs and then suddenly got really angry at myself and wished I could undo it, because I realized I could no longer be proud that I had "never" done drugs! I woke up relieved that it had been a dream.

Blessed are we (people like you and me) who can have interesting minds without having to force them to be interesting by way of taking drugs.

That last statement is extremely self centered, pompous, and without merit. Though, with the benefit of a doubt it looks from your story that you may have had quite the dysfunctional upbringing. Perhaps you adopted this 'holier than thou' attitude as a coping mechanism. Maybe the people around you were constantly trying to force you to take drugs and it was your way of rising above it. I'm not slamming you but I think such attitudes on a whole promote an 'elitist' view of the world that only serves as a disservice to us all. I'm not saying that you have to take drugs by a longshot, but perhaps you could open your mind a little to understand that not everyone is like the people you knew and more to the point that everyone is not like you.

    ...but onward to feministhippy's post...

Dropping acid in a dream sounds like a really strange experience. I guess the cool part is that you got to just wake up. At least it wasn't something like crack. I had a dream once where I smoked crack even though I'd never go near it. It was very vivid and in it I became a crackhead. Boy was I glad to wake up from that one.

even the slight desire to do something can influence a dream, they are often based on repressed urges, however slight they are

(also that anti-drug speach was extremely pompous)

In fairness, I think he's just proud of himself that despite his upbringing, he chose not to do drugs. I don't think he intended to be condescending towards anyone else.

Anyway, yeah, it does make sense that even a slight desire to do something would cause me to dream about it. At least I did it in a dream, where it can do me no real damage.

First off, I was offended by peacefuljeffrey's comment. Despite whether a person uses drugs or not does not make them a better or worse person. Drugs are a problem with the user does not handle them correctly. I put myself above a person who has to steal in order to support their drug habit, but as a drug user, I never once put myself on a level above or below a non-user.

    Moving along...

I also have had several dreams in which I am extremely high from some type of drug. I don't actually remember taking the drug in the dream, but I get to a point where I am lying down on a bed or something, and other people are telling me to get up for some reason, but I can't move.
Sometimes I just hear a sound or something and want to lift my head and turn it to see what is making the sound, but the drug is overbearing to a point where I can't even life my head to do that.
I have had this dream a few times, just thought I'd share.
