Yeah I'm so pleased that this film had been made and can't wait to see it. I'm going to get stoned out of my eyeballs and go to the cinema to watch it.
Do you think they can re-create the vibes. I'm afraid it'll be just a shallow window dressing Woodstock. Sometimes imitating a earth trembling event is just not possible. I hope they can do it justice.
Ang lee is a great director, Crouching tiger hidden dragon is one of my favourite movies of all time. And if people can recreate the vibes of D-day and the sinking of the Titanic they can do this as well. I hope they succeed. :cheers2:
I saw it. I expected a cheesy, popularized, and toned down depiction of Woodstock. However, I was surprised to see it was actually pretty good. The acid scene was particularly beautiful. However, it is bizarre that it's a movie about a music event, and yet it barely had any music in it. The only time you had a glimpse of the "stage" was a scene at night, from a far-off distance. I know that there's no way you can reenact the performances without making a joke out of it (and I'm glad they didn't), but it still made me feel like a something was missing.
When I tripped across Canada in 1970,I met all kinds of folks that went to Woodstock but couldn't get in and evidently there was music and fun all up and down the place just outside of the main scene with a few thousand people there. I'll see the movie and hope it brings back some of the feeling from the 60s.
I was really excited for this film, but I saw it and was rather disappointed. I was expecting it to be more about the actual festival itself, but I really didn't dig the story. A few scenes were cool, such as the acid trip in the van, but overall, I don't think I'd watch it again.
i have just seen this movie in my local arts centre for free. I had been put off going to see it by a few people who didn't really rate but it as it was free, well......you know the rest. I loved it, and Imelda Staunton was marvellous (as she is in everythng she does ).
