I have heard so many stories of ppl telling their parents that they smoke and it turning out well.. like they are allowed to smoke whenever and wherever (alot of times not inside)

i have recently found out my dad used to alot (i had my hunches as his music choice was very hippie friendly haha)

my mom used to be an alcoholic and has tried it and decided its not for her (thats what she tells me)

they know my sister drinks like all the time (shes not 21)

should i ask their permission as long as i stay on my grades, or should i just wait till college when i am officially on my own?

    im a senior btw

    Why would you tell them?

Will you gain anything from it? If they disapprove, will you quit?

Will they gain anything from it?

How do you think it will go? You know your parents better than us.

I am not one that shared everything with my parents because even though they went through those stages too...they got older and parental....therefore, becoming a bit authoritarian and not as accepting of illegal behavior.

It'll lose the shock value and you'll lose interest.
For the sake of your lungs, tell your parents.

It would be weird just to come out to your parents and say "Hey! I smoke.. Is it okay if I smoke in the house?" If they don't know already that you smoke, then why the hell would you tell them?

I would avoid telling your family until you reach an age where you are independent enough to make your own decisions.

I say tell them. If they agree, then they agree. and if they disagress, I'd throw something out there like 'would you rather have me drink at parties then?'

most adults know that smoking gets you in a lot less trouble than drinking does. Chances are, if you are thinking about telling them, you sort of feel that they may accept your deicions to smoke. Either way, I say tell them. Smoking is no big deal, and if they make it a bid deal, then shit....... you can go on doing what you're doing....... hiding your smoking sessions from them :)

Why get them involved when you don't need to?
I'd say keep on doin' what you're doin', but I've been smoking with my parents since I was 17.
    haha

    Don't tell them.

You wouldn't run up to your mom and be like "hey I just had anal sex"...... Would you?

I'd say that drinking gets you in less trouble than smoking. Smoking is illegal at any age. Drinking is only illegal until you're 21.

I was in the exact situation too mawn. Except my dad smoked weed for cancer. But I told my mom and she was actually slightly less than fine with it. Now I can smoke anytime, and almost anywhere as long as I keep the smell down.

Tell them the truth, look up false facts about marijuana to help. They probably know their false by the sounds of it.
