Yeah so I was wondering what my chances are if I have VERY SEVERE Migraine pain in which the headaches (always on the right side of my face; eye, nose, temple, neck, and forehead) throb very painfully. They make it so I cannot even get up, I have to turn off all the lights and basically become a hermit.

So far they've given me Midrin, Toradol (60mg), Phenagran. None of which have helped relieve my pain for the headache, not even a little. They also have given me a Triptan that worked a tiny tiny bit but I can't take more than twice a week, now considering my headaches are about 6 days a week and last 8-16 hours I was wondering if going to a Pain Management Clinic would be a better bet.

Yes I love opiates, I abuse them, but honestly this shit sucks and I just need something to help me so I can actually try to go get a fuckin job again. I also find it odd that these headaches started now that I'm 22 and after a really bad car accident, thanks in advance to anyone that replies with pertinent information :D

I don't know much about pain management clinics but have told your regular doctor that those medications were not working for you? I've known a couple of people that were prescribed meds (like codeine and vicodin usually) for migraines without having to go to such a clinic. Problem is that painkillers don't cure the root cause(s) of the migraine, it just dulls the pain of it.

From what I know, doctors wont usually give out pain meds for migraines. It sucks, cause the only thing that makes my migraines nonexistant is Vicodin.

Yeah, I have vicodin left over from getting my wisdom teeth out and that's what I use it for. Luckily mine are few and far between, but when I get them, that shit knocks em right out.
dd, do you think there is a cure for migraines? Last I knew, the jury was out on what causes them in the first place...

Ya he's right, there are so many good drugs for migraines that doctors are going away from pain killers. They will give me oxycodone for initial onset of migraines but thats it. Because like I said if you take the migraine medicine at the first sign of a migraine it will work.
So your best bet is to take the pills given to you at the first sign of a migraine. Because they will work. And find yourself another way to scam some pain killers out of a doctor.
These migraine meds work so well once you find the one that works for you that you won't have to look like a pill head to your doctor.
    Good Luck

I've taken morphine and gotten a cluster headache during the high. I know migraines and cluster headaches are different, but the opiate barely took the edge off for me. It's pretty doubtful you'd get such hard drugs for migraines. If you're really having them that often and that severely, you probably need to go to a doctor, like, soon.

Dude that sounds like a cluster migraine. Go eat some shrooms or drop some acid, psychedelics have been proven to help them.

You should try some Topamax. It is now also available in a generic known as Topomirate.

Ask your doctor to let you try it. I take 2 every night before bed and 1 when I wake up and now I don't have nearly as many migraines. I was having bad migraines with full-blown aural visions almost every day. The visions were very trippy...just like acid...but the accompanying headaches were very nasty...If you get it....let me know if it helps.

Yeah I guess I'll ask my Doc about Topamax, they gave me a whole shit load of medicine. None of it has worked at all really. They gave me some triptan that barely lowered the pain and some shot of benedryl and some sort of pain medicine all it really did was make me nauseated and offered no pain relief. Sadly I wish this was an act to scam some pain meds but honestly it's getting to the point were I rather have one hand if I didn't have to experience this anymore. I'm not looking for an oxy80 for this pain, that would be ridiculous. Maybe a Norco or Endocet would help with it or Roxi 15 since all my migraine meds have Tylenol with it already.

Ya I only had like 10 migraines since a car accident in 2004. They would give me like 10 or 14 percs and send me home. If they were to continue they told me they would treat me with migraine meds.
So yes you might get a few pills but don't look for a steady supply of them..

BTW, as far as I know, Topamax does not help once you get a migraine, it is used to prevent them.
