http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/aug/15/fighting-taliban-in-afghanistan-war Is it right for reporters to be having conversations with the Taleban? Are they trying to humanise these people? Does it serve any purpose? Is it treacherous?
they what us to believe that they threaten to gain control of Pakistans nuclear programs, or gain access to nuclear material..
yes,, I liked the read, it was a good article.. having to rub my eyes 20xs to read it though.. yawnn.. If your asking are they human, sure.. I felt alot differently fighting them 'Afghans' than I did while serving in Iraq.. thankfully not much close conflict while in afghanistan.. So If i felt differently, Im sure theres other with low morale. the reports of winning some fighting really dont make every soldier feel great when they know they shouldnt be there at all..
When I say "humanise" I mean give there "cause" some credance...like they have a point and are not just murdering sacks of crap. I do see this kind of reporting a lot in the more liberal media. It feels wrong.
I think there are more murdering sacks of crap in the Rap music industry than there are in Afghanistan..
Everyone deserves to have a voice. The members of any group are not any less human than others. I'm certain they have reasons they believe in for why they do whatever they do. Why should the media NOT talk to them?
Imo, the Taleban are free to air their voices from the rooftop - under their own steam. Reporters - I assume - are bound by a confidentiality clause...so they go and speak to these people - learning nothing we didn't already know... Come back, write a long earnest article but don't help the situation at all. "This is where we meet after our operations," Reporters should be giving up this information if it is not already known. The whole article wreaks of "a seasoned reporter bringing difficult info to our humble feet" - he'll probably get an award for it too.
they have very little food, equipment, housing, clothing, ect and they are conditioned better then troops that have all the above.. it takes 30,000 u.s. troops to fight some 1,200 supposed taliban or is it more or less? they really dont know.. insurgence are changing and shifting tactics all the time.. when the last 9 soldiers were killed by someone that turned on coalition forces, whos who in this game is getting harder and harder..
The taliban remind me of the "terminator".They will not stop unless killed.Any group of people that wants to completely control peoples minds and bodies so completely=no music,no kite flying,no reading,no dancing, doing anything other than what they say, enforce dress codes, treat women like chattel, behead people and MAKE people adhere to a religion wether they want to or not, need to be killed. The sooner ,the better. However ,I'm not a believer in war,so we shouldn't have gone anyplace near those people that want to live like it's 1400.There's no way to win over there. We pull out=they take over again. They have "forever to do it.What differance does it make who talks to them?
Yes, the media isn't controlled enough. The corporations that own the media should have even more control over what we can see and hear, because, after all, the people are just too dumb to decide for themselves. They need elites to decide for them what they can and can't hear on TV.
