    :iagree:

I was using food stamps for a few months a while ago only because my partner would not work and I was supporting us on a part-time income while attending school full-time. I was embarrassed because I knew about the stereotypes that come with using government assistance. Some people need them and others do not. So, I think there should be more restrictions placed on who can use them and who can't.

I've been on 'em once... & I've been homeless a few times over the years.
I got a medical card and foodstamps for 3 months while I was out of work due to knee injury that required steroids and rest.
I went back to work after that time period, & got off assistance.
I have issues with bleeding taxpayer money if I'm not able to contribute... It's this nagging thing called a conscience.

This is what I would call a good reason. A few months to get back on your feet. That is what this assistance is intended for. I would even pay more taxes to help if it was done right. It's mostly single mothers and their children getting this assitance, right? So help them out with medical and food, but also, send them to school, teach them a trade. Give them a way out. It's retarded paying all this money for a lifetime and they never get any better, because now, my children will be paying taxes to support their children, and so on and so forth. It's better in the long run to get them out of the gap. They need more personal assistance, someone who can spend time working on their case to help them better themselves. If someone is not willing to take advantage of a better education or job, then fuck 'em. Put their kids somewhere better and then let the deadbeats fend for themselves. I know it sounds cruel, but I'm sick of paying for lazy assholes who have no intention of doing anything else.
