hi guys. just wondering, is that a hippie phrase, and if so, what does it mean? I thought you cats might know if it was or not. thanks!
Well, IMO it originated as a 'Black Power' slogan for the Black Panthers. But after that it became a slogan for getting our freedom back. Now, when it was used as Black Panther slogan, it was to stick it to the (I love this quote) "White-devil-slave-master." The latter was just a little poke at the movement. Don't take it seriously.
hmmmmmm. well thats interesting.lol. i had to call my dad and he didn't know!! well even tho i'm white, it's still fun to say...
To me, it has meaning. It means Get the better of any Corporation you can. (The US Government is run like a company anyway. Why NOT?!)
Nowadays.......... "Power to teh PPL!" Hey, wanna stick it to the man? You can do so by..... "Takin' it to teh streets!" Another 60's chant..... "FTW"
Just as an example of "Sticking It To The Man", is File Sharing. IE: Kazaa and others. You can even get Windows XP Pro with Key! That's "Sticking It To" Microsucks.
I've downloaded over 26 hours off music off bearshare .....if you really want to fight the man, stop spending money on stuff that is manufactured by corporations. If enough people do this, they'll hear you...its not like they can make people by their products.
