if i lived back then, your damn right i'd be picking up all the little girls all i please its what men - real men - were supposed to do
well, i can say that Dr. Martin Luther King Junior was very active in teh civil rights movement and still inspires people today. But, you're just another british ****. So, what would you know?
They are all human. Can we expect our leaders to be flawless? I have no strong opinion on any of these people. The first five have done some great things, but, like anyone, they have likely done things that weren't so good and things that would be frowned upon in our culture. But, you could say that about pretty much anyone.
I'm just gonna go ahead and agree with this list, mostly just because I like to be contrary and am always willing to add people to the list of "people and things I hate for no apparent reason." Lance Armstrong's getting awfully cold and lonely.
He may have been, but I don't know for certain. He did plagiarize a good portion of his speeches, though. Plus he beat on his wife. He was also tied to the CPUSA.
Aung San Suu Kyi: I don't understand why you would dislike somebody who has spent half of her life imprisoned/under house arrest because she chose to stand up for her principles against a despicable government. If people say that she is their inspiration, who are you to question that? People are free to choose what they are inspired by. I have personally spoken to many Burmese people and they seem to believe that she is a leader/role model/figurehead, effective in the fact that she at least periodically brings the world's spotlight on their otherwise unimportant corner of the globe which is being run by a despicable regime.
1. the bombing raids from tinian were worse than ANYTHING that happened to dresden, Really, the napalm bombing of wooden and paper cities in japan, dresden was an atrocity, but, we did worse than you. THEN we used nukes. 2. martin luther king actually did some good stuff, but not as much as the black panthers. Go figure. 3. the rest of your list is fine, except churchhill rubberstamped putting turing in jail for being gay, which is the fucking most bullshit act of the war. 4. the dalai lama might belong on that list too.
redyelruc, I did say I may be being irrational...and this one might be the most irrational. But, she is still only a human being and I don't have to fall over myself over her...or be in awe because of the people she may inspire. I just don't particularly like her...I can still admire the cause she seeks to promote. When ever I see her on TV, I feel it is her and her imprisonment that gets the attention, not necessarily her political agenda...but that's another issue.
Perhaps, but how many people have heard of tinian? I hadn't till now. Dresden is the one that always springs into my mind...because I can picture the destructuion that occured and I respect how it has been used to bring Germans and Britains together since that occured. The most? Not sure about that. But that is another reason to despise the cock-sucker. I like the way you think...but, I don't have any feelings, positive or negative, about him. So I left him off my list. I did think about it, though.
