I'm a huge, die-hard Pink Floyd fan. They are probably my favorite band of all time, but despite that, I really despise 'The Wall' and I would probably consider it the most overrated album of all time. I like Roger's work outside of The Floyd, but I'm not really to fond of the Roger waters era of Pink Floyd.
Yea I dont consider "The Wall" to be their best album... I like "Dark Side" much better. Zeppelin 4/Zoso....(Stairway to Heaven to be more exact).... Whenever I bring up Zeppelin (which is often because their one of my favorites) the other person either brings up "Zoso" or "Stairway.
Pet Sounds is overated. Its ok but i suppose at the time,it mustve meant alot.I know it sold better in the UK(no 2)than in the States.
I agree. A friend of mine knew I was a huge Pink Floyd fan and saw some article saying that The Wall was one of those albums to listen to before you die, so he went and got it for me. I was disappointed because I also liked Dark Side of the Moon much better. Why is everyone obsessed with The Wall? Is it the movie or what? In my opinion there are too many slow tracks, where there's barely any singing at all and hardly any guitar in the background.
The Wall is a masterpiece, it can't be taken song by song otherwise songs like Empty Spaces, Don't Leave me Now, Vera, Show Must Go On and such are just shitty, but as a whole it's one of the greatest rock operas that has yet to be made. Though personally I like The Final Cut more
I totally agree with this. Pink Floyd lost their charm when Roger took over the band, however he made some great solo albums. I actually think Dark Side of the Moon is overrated. I'm not saying it isn't good, it just doesn't deserve to be the biggest selling album of all time. Other than that, I think most albums get the respect/disrespect they deserve.
The Wall would make an amazing single album, but it's a double, and that other half is rubbish (think of all 30 songs and remove your favourite 15, now imagine just listening to the others) As an overall concept, yes it's incredible, but that came across much better in the live shows than on the original album. Overrated: Bob Dylan. Annoying and irritating and horrible. To anyone who'll defend him by emphasising his incredible lyrics I say "then he should have just been a poet"
Personally I love Bob Dylan, I think that his unconventional vioce combined with his lyrics are pretty fricken far out. But I see your point, he is most definently not for everyone.
