Are these edible? I got them like this. They are moist and have specs of shiny material on them. I would appreciate any help. I am currently drying them out.
here we go... i posted some smaller, better-looking pictures. Hope this helps and thanks for the reply. Could these be Strobilomyces floccopus: The Old Man of the Woods mushrooms? Please help me out guys. I'm probably going to eat them when the dry and I want to make sure they're edible. Any guesses as to what the metallic looking specs are?
I bought these. Please help me out guys and tell me if my logic is wrong. They have gold specs on them which means that they were home grown. So, I'm not worried about poison. I bought these. I think that they are either extremely bruised or rotten. I want to brew them into a tea. So the boiling water should kill the bacteria. Is this safe?
it looks like black mold which is highly toxic and poisonous, harmful to humans.. please throw them away, before you get more black mold contamination and come down with flu like symptoms..
if you would eat something that looks like that i have no sympathy for you. common sense would say something BLACK and speckled is not a mushroom. its more likely shit. PS. the fact that it is moist should tell you its no good.
LOL, Those are definatly not "EXTREMLY BRUISED", go get your money back and punch whoever you got them for in the face for trying to kill you.
did you do a spore print ? spore print colors are a large indicator that a mushroom contains magic ingredients
Looks like "giant aquatic Brazilian centipede". If u eat em, watch out for your keyboard haha. (hehe Naked Lunch reference btw). god knows what that is and eating would be silly. Thought it might have been ergots but even if it is is not very safe to eat as far as i know. Neither is eating moldy lumps of shite.
I've actually come across something years ago thats very similar to what you described in your post. Acquired them from someone still fresh... they started off all over white, no real color difference between the white of the stock or cap. Didn't bruise blue at all. Had shiny, grainy bits of what I figured was vermiculite or something similar. Any who, put all faith in the person I got them from, and decided to dose while drying them a bit. Didn't have what I've come to identify as the "normal" shroomy taste, much more bitter & sourish/metallic tasting. Eventually came back to look at them closer... totally black... like completely black color after an hour or so. Saved some for the next day... no effect at all. But the first night it produced a "fever type" delirium w/ complete "heat-stroke" like confusion. Long story short, looking back on that night... I'd have to say I got ripped, not what I know as your basic shrooms.
