Well so a little backstory to this: I read this article posted on NORML concerning how Tommy Benton wanted to "cane" and "execute" weed dealers and users- Here is the link: http://blog.norml.org/2009/08/12/georgia-lawmaker-calls-for-caning-executing-marijuana-offenders/ SO I proceeded to get a hold of the State Represetative...the Modern Day Nazi Thinker that is BENTON!! This is the result : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HrfT7G1wOA A hard ware store is not a Political Office. Government Fail.
you do realize that guy is a state representative not a congressman dont you?? from the sounds of it no you didnt.. so do you expect a state representative to have his own office on 16 grand a year salary? this dude is a representative from podunk georgia where i assure you 99% of the voters in his district agree with him. i used to work in his district..you can bitch all you want it will do nothing.. i would tell you what i thought of your phone cal but it would probably not be received well so ill keep my mouth shut on that.. just wanted to inform you he was a nobody, not a congressman.
Yeah, sorry about the Congress Mistake At least I'll take my shame and admit my mistakes though. I just think it is BAD FORM to have your OFFICE number be the same place as where you work. (unrelated to politics) I do think based off Tommy Benton's comments, it does warrant a bitching from those who think weed should be legal. I don't care what you think of the phone call You can't hate me more than I hate myself.
get his attention by firebombing some liquor stores.. fuck them.. !! http://www.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Liquor+Stores/S-GA/
I don't think it's bad form to have your office number be the same place where you work. State Representatives don't have that as a full time job, most of them have other jobs, I would think. I do agree with your second paragraph, though. Someone who encourages violence over marijuana and is in the public eye, no matter how small his office, should expect phone calls and protest. But, I do think your energies could be spent calling and writing to people in government such as your governer, congressman, and people who have a large amount of power. They need to hear our voices more.
I personally didn't consider the Office/Work Number very professional...but I'm an artist not a politician so maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, it was unexpected on my end. Although I think people involved with larger amounts of power are more worthy of protest, I think any one involved in prohibition should be fair game for semantic attacks and protests. Based off what he said though, he should be immediately relieved of his office. Dishonorably discharged, so to speak.
Whatever. I've tried to contact so many politicians and obtain their office phone numbers, and keep an updated list so that while at protests, conventions, symposiums, etc. people can actually take a copy of the lists of representatives they need to get into contact with the people in power. It's difficult. I'd rather be able to get a hold of them than not. Even when you send a message on paper in a letter or somesuch, you don't always get a reply. It's always a pleasure to be able to get in contact, because there are many politicians who avoid divulging that information and they remain inaccessible.
