lol please tell me of anything valid that says jesus's last name was christ, for that is complete shit. to be a christian is to follow christianity. if christianity didnt exist then how could he be christian? jesus followed judaism, thus making him jewish. im agnostic, yet i obviously have different morals than some other agnostics. if i died and people made up an area of agnostism and named it after me (even though christ is a rough translation of words like king or messiah, not actually jesus's last name) i sure as hell wouldnt be part of this "religion" (couldnt think of a better word). jesus was a jew, pure and simple.

What a stupid thing to say. But, yes Jesus was a Jew. However, from what I hear after this dude died, a religion called 'Christianity' spawned. And the is rumor that Jesus' last name was Christ. So what was the apprent model of this religion? Jesus. Jesus was a Christian, he was and has been the only one. There are large differences between Judaism and Christianity other than the Jesus aspect.thumontico

The title Christ just means King, and if you look through the begats, which show Yeshua Ben Joseph's lineage on Mary's and Joseph's side, you see that he is of the line of David, therefore could be in contention for the crown.
Most Christians I speak with do not even realize Jesus wasn't what he was called by, and many don't realize that Christ is not a surname.
As for 'Christianity', Paul started it, so maybe it should be named Paulianity.

    Good points, atropine.
I would only add that he was likely a member of a sect of Judaism called the Essenes, or the Nazoreans. The idea that he was from Nazareth is likely wrong, since Nazareth doesn't show up historically until 600 AD.
It amazes me how many people argue that he was not Jewish. lol

He actually did offer an argument dealing with logic which you have yet to touch.

As far as I know, Nazareth is not on any maps before around 600 AD, and so it seems unlikely that it existed for 600 years before the mapmakers knew of it.

    follwers of the pure path...

    ~
essenes = theraputae = ascetic, semi-monastic ultra-orthodox jews, felt that the temple & even the calendar were corrupted...

pharisees were jews who were awaiting the messiah, who believed in the resurrection of the body & life everlasting... (as opposed to sadducees, who believed none of these things)

zealots (= sicarii (curved knives)) were an insurrectionist cabal of jews willing to wage war against the great beast of rome (and against collaborators) (see: masada)

And how many maps dating before 600 AD do we have? Not trying to be a smartass, but there has to be a certain number before they can be cross checked for accuracy.
