A communist, maybe. How is he a racist, though? Of course I don't agree with everything he says, but I do think he's a brilliant writer and is pretty much spot on with his assessment of Obama.
You mean he's brilliant whenever he says what you want to hear? Well whoopee. Anyone who calls Obama an Uncle Tom because he deviates from hard left orthodoxy is a racist. Not surprisingly Pilger wasn't happy with Mandela either. Pilger knows what's best for black people, apparently, and is full of hatred for anyone that differs.
Oh geez not this fucking wanker, this bastard supports Hugo Chávez for god sakes. I agreed with some of his points but others were utter bullshit, what Mr. Pilger doesn't seem to understand is that Obama is not liberal so he is not even close to a socialist like himself. Obama is center-from-right which means he isn't too left from the Bush policies (actually he his being criticized by many legislation set by the previous administration, and the bailout which would've happen even if Palin became president). I'm really disappointed by Pilger, I've enjoyed and felt enlightened by some of his documentaries but to see him jump on the Obama bashing band wagon with mostly piss poor arguments is a bit of a let down.
I umm... have a strange fascination with Hugo Chavez; in fact, I like him. I think he's a very strong politician, but I don't support him as the head of state forever. Unrelated, but Pilger's critical opinion is valid in my view.
Hugo Chavez is pretty much irrelevant in terms of geopolitics, though Venezuela is very important to the globalists because of its resources. It's the media that makes him into this big, bad bogeyman. Frankly, I would be more scared of the people running this country (at the gofer lever) than I would be Chavez. No, Pepik (er, Hiptastic), it's not because I simply agree with him about Obama. He is a very good writer and I thought his work on the Iraq war was top-notch.
Pilger has long been a critic of Australia, particularly its inherent racism and treatment of its indigenous population. Pilger wrote that the legislation that removed common law rights of Aborigines, "is just one of the disgraces that has given Australia the distinction of being the only developed country whose government has been condemned as racist by the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination." Dunno. don't sound like no racist to me... Seem pretty smart actually.....
The word Racist has become so watered down, especially since Obama took office. I remember when Racist used to mean participating in KKK meetings and other hate crimes. Not having an opposing politcal view. Obama should have ran with the motto: "If you don't vote for me, you're a obviously a racist."
Calling an African-American an "Uncle Tom" probably doesn't seem that harmful to you, I'm sure it is tho. Smart people can be racist too.
I see, so they are 'pretty much irrelevant' and 'very important' at the same time. Conspiracy theory logic is always so impressive. "The media"? Chavez has steadily grabbed control of all television media in Venezuela. His own words on his own television stations are enough to scare anybody who is paying attention.
Hell, I like Chavez enough that I have actually gotten interested in Venezuela, where I hardly knew anything about it before him. My impression of him is that he has giant BALLZ and that he SAYS WHAT HE THINKS, rather than what people want to hear. He's doing an "experiment", one in which the citizens are participating, yet he still has something like 80% approval.. And I have great respect for a person who wants to do things like make things more "right" regardless of what the "rich and powerful" folks think, and "take from the rich to give to the poor" like Robin Hood... Yea, I'd actually like to check out Venezuela. The land where folks either LOVE their leader or they think he's totally crazy. (I have an affinity for "crazy" folks...)
The media makes Chavez into a big, bad bogeyman? He doesn't do just fine on his own? He's been taking classes at the Putin School of Censorship and Repression.
