You really don't need much sun exposure to get the proper amount of vitamin D. 10-15 minutes max should do it for most people.

That depends on the results of the current research being done. Some new research suggests that our bodies can and will utilize up to 3 times more vitamin d than was previously thought. However nobody has come to a consensus yet.

I read that you only need 30 minutes of sun light to get your daily recommended dose of Vit. D. and it recommended it during the morning hours.

Yeah..I think it is because Vit.D came from the sunlight. Since sunblock is intended for sun's harmful rays, then it could also block Vit. D that we get from the sun.

Vitamin D is synthesised on the surface of the skin, it forms in the oils. It is important to not wash off after sun exposure because vitD has a slow absorption rate.

Supplementing requires constant monitoring, it is potentially dangerous to go over your requirements. Vitamin D is stored so 30 mins of full sun per week is what is considered normal. this equals more of over cast sun. Yes early morning light is better for Vit D production, mid day light does not have a worth while spectrum spread.
