Because as well all know, it's cyclists that are the problem.

Sorry, but they can fuck their laws. If I can go through a red light safely without risking an accident then I will. Why the fuck should I hang around waiting for the light to turn red? I'm on a bike!

The reason I have to wait until it turns red in the first place is because of the excessive numbers of cars on the road. If I go through the red, then I get a head start as well and I don't get in the way of impatient drivers!

Just because a few idiots can't cycle properly all the rest of us have to suffer.

I don't take unnecessary risks, but some are justified, so I'm jumping lights and cycling on the pavement.

I have to spend all my time watching other cars and making sure one doesn't plough into me, so they can all fuck off.

By the way I don't cycle in London anyway, I am scottish brah!

    Typical:rolleyes:

And damn right there are too many bloody cars. The fumes on busy roads just choke me, they stink. No-one else seems to notice or comment, and whenever I've mentioned it to people they've looked at me like I'm mad. Plus it takes hours to cross the road around here. Plus I just hate the masses of metal boxes

I hate the fact that we have one these days, but we're strict about only using it when we can't walk or cycle, and when we do use it we always try and make it easy for pedestrians and cyclists. I grew up without a car and we didn't have one either for years. More people need to just buy a bike. One of the things that angers me most is these people that own about 5 cars and drive in them all by themselves ALL the time, just to go down the road. Grr

Like it or not, the rules of the road don't allow for individuals to decide whether it's safe for them to ignore traffic lights, and with good reason. Just last week a cyclist was jailed for 7 months for killing an 84-year-old pedestrian after jumping on the pavement to run a red light. It may well be this very incident that has prompted the police crackdown.

Lol, I thought this was going to be serious.
Anyhoo, if I am on the road I follow the highway code as best I can.
Red lights are pretty much a must do...especially in London.

I cycle absolutely everywhere all the time (ok not literally) and I always try to follow the rules of the road, in fact I'm better at it than a lot of car drivers with so much experience of having to over-compensate for dangerous drivers putting my life at risk daily. Never ever EVER jump a red light, I pull up to the front and stand in the middle of the lane so they have to wait for me to go when it turns green, that's the safest way to do it. Ride confidently and take control of the road, forcing them to give you a safe amount of space, always signal, always assume they're going to try to cut you up...

Cyclists behaving like the rules don't apply to them give all of us a bad name, and you can't complain about bad driving if you're breaking the law yourself. We have to put up with enough abuse and dangerous driving anyway, don't give them any more excuse...

All of my time cycling on the roads in spent avoiding a collision with car drivers who either don't look where they are going, or assume that there probably isn't a cyclist on their left and cut you up and stuff.

The traffic lights are there for their benefit, not mine, and there are far to many of the damn things, as there are too many cars!

So fuck their lights, I am a very careful cyclist and I show every possible consideration for car drivers, so their rules donot apply to me.

Cyclist who ride about with their heads up their arses are the ones that give us a bad name, as are car drivers who do the same.

There are so many cars on the road that traffic lights are necessary to control the flow of traffic, but cyclists donot require so much space on the roads so they ought to be granted a little more freedom to go through red if there is no risk to anyone. Why the fuck should I have to stop at these lights all the time, I need to get to where I am going, I can only go so fast on a road full of cars and lights!

If I cycle ont he roads, cars, lorries and buses get in my way, if I cycle on the cycle path, people walking their dogs get in my way, and I end up with punctures all the time from all the broken bottle of buckie everywhere.

My mode of transport is green, the lights I see are green.

I'd like to see how that one stands up in court...

Isn't that exactly the same excuse car drivers use for cutting you up? "I need to get where I'm going! Cyclists are so slow! They shouldn't even be on the road!" Selfishness is the problem, not the solution.

    Think: what would Jesus do?

Well it wouldn't stand up in court would it, but do you think my face is really bothered.

Like I say, I do everything I can to keep out of the way of cars, and sometimes jumping a red light helps to facilitate that.

I'm inclined to agree with the rozzers on this one.

Cyclists frequently ride in ways that put themselves and others in danger, I say this as someone who was nearly run over by a cyclist on the pavement today.

Whilst YOU may be able to judge when it is safe to jump a red light does not mean that all will. and there is nothing worse when drving a car or riding a motorbike and accelereating away from the lights for someone to pull out from the pavements.

I say get some of the pedestrains as well, especially people who insist on walking three across the pavement having a leisurely stroll when others of us have things we would rather do

    OH!

It's not alright for CAREFUL cyclists to ride on the pavement, but it's ok for folk to let their dogs run amok all over the cycle paths round here! It's alright to wander down the middle of a cycle path, three in a row, getting in my way all the time, but OH NO you wouldn't catch anyone doing that on a busy road would you!

Sometimes it is safer for cyclists to ride on the pavement.

Once again, CYCLISTS AREN'T THE PROBLEM HERE, it's the fact that there are TOO MANY CARS!
