So i decided to start growing my dreads through neglect and i just have a few questions i couldnt find answers for on the FAQ, firstly if im just washing my hair and not using any shampoo is it okay to be showering every day? Also ive heard that driving with windows down or anything wind related is good for the dreads, is that true? also pictures before and after my first shower without combing
hey man, each person is different. i do wash my hair 2-3 times a week. if you go here http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=358787 you can see my progress from day 1 up to month 4 and in two weeks will be 5 months. there is a lot of information from week to week for the first few months of what i did and what helped and what did not. hope this helps you out
Yo man, if you are going neglect seriously don't worry. Anything that creates knots and tangles is good. Wash your hair everyday if you like. Eventually you won't because it will take too long to dry, and there is no point unless you just like getting your head wet. Wear a hat, sleep, wash it, whatever, it all creates knots which is what you want. In 6 months you will see real progress.
I actually didnt wash much in my process. Less washing leads to less oil being produced by your scalp
i wish i could wash less but i work pretty much every day and showing up to work with half my hair sticking out to the side probably wouldnt be okay with them unfortunately. Ive taken to driving with my head out the window like raven lol
don't worry about less washing, I've found that my hair knots more when I wash. I was washing every other day for a while and my hair knotted tons, now I wash once or twice a week and it seems to knot more when I do. Lots of times I will just take a shower though and not wash my hair, but washing my face and letting water and humidity touch my hair brings the natural curls out and make it look great between washes.
