EPA WILL USE POOR KIDS AS GUINEA PIGS IN NEW STUDY ON PESTICIDES

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), led by Bush appointees, plans to launch a new study in which participating low income families will have their children exposed to toxic pesticides over the course of two years. For taking part in these studies, each family will receive $970, a free video camera, a T-shirt, and a framed certificate of appreciation. In October, the EPA received $2 million to do the study from the American Chemistry Council, a chemical industry front group that includes members such as Dow, Exxon, and Monsanto. The EPA's Linda Sheldon says the study is vital, because so little is known about how small children's bodies absorb harmful chemicals. As of press time, none of the EPA's employees are offering to have their own children take part in this research project. The Organic Consumers Association is calling on the nation's citizens to demand the EPA forgo this project before its scheduled launch in early 2005.

I WANT to say that any parent who actually signs up for this deserves what they get...but it isn't the parents who get hurt. Fucking idiotic study, fucking idiotic country...

The 'fact sheet' over at the EPA leaves much to be desired in 'facts'. It does say that they won't be providing any new pesticides, that it's a test of what is already used in the household. i.e. they won't be exposing kids on purpose or providing the families with pesticides. But... no mention of what size sample they're aiming for, age of the children, what specific chemical components, what products etc. Not to mention the urine tests, the blood samples, the activity monitor, the videotaping of the kids, etc.. basicly jacking with the psyche of those kids. I'm against it if for nothing else that they insulted the intelligence with their over generalized 'fact - sheet'. Not to mention the whole thing reeks of a manufacturers influence. See how close to the bar they can get and still sell the crap. Just ban it all together and be done with it.

i can't imagine what sort of parents would subject their kids to a two-year "pesticide study". it baffles my mind.

Well...when you think about it...what would you expect from these people?
Haven't they always tested their bombs out on indigenous people, tested their chemicals out on Africans, recruited the poor to fight in their filthy, illegal wars for them?
It fits right in with their agenda. Poor people are dispensable. Throw them a couple of bucks and they'll scramble for it...that's how they think, money is god...and they think we are as fucked up as they are.

Yep, that's exactly it. American civilians and civilians abroad are just test subjects and cannon fodder to the elites, they don't care about them, they are just some organism with less money than them that buys all their gas at 3.00 bucks a gallon and buys their TVs and their cars and lives life blind without ever asking themself the real questions about what is going on around them.

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

    Calm DOWN..

Its not as Evil as you lot are making out ...

Is there any risk to me and my family?

    • No. You and your child will not experience any risks from participating in this study.
      • We will not ask any parent to apply pesticides in their home to be a part of this study.
      • You are not required to change any of your regular household routines.
Researchers at EPA are very sensitive to issues associated with children participating in this study. The study protocol has been reviewed and approved by four independent institutional review boards for the protection of human participants.
    Why is this important?

    • The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has pledged to increase its efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
    • Current information on young children’s exposures to chemicals used in consumer products is very limited.
    • This study will help the U.S. EPA to better understand:
      • how young children are exposed to pesticides and other chemicals from common consumer products
      • when these exposures occur
      • levels of exposure at home

Reading Matthew's information puts a totally different slant on it. It sounds more like a study to see how children are affected by basic household pesticides as a way to prevent this from continuing happening. That's a good thing ain't it? I bet the kids don't have to do anything except get blood tests periodically.

are you sure that that's a real article and not just something condemning the bush administration? I mean, i hate the administration just as much as all sane people do, but don't you think that that's going a little too far? There's so much stuff going on since Satan won the election, and we can't believe everything we read...

My sentiments exactly! It's amazing how easily one side of the story can be put across like that... and I'm not having a go at the original poster, just their media sources which seem pretty crooked.

I read the EPA info and it doesn't sound too bad... They don't want you to change anything that you are already doing normally... Some geographic locations are heavy areas of chemical usage, that is very true. They want to find out if its damaging and make it official. And I'm sure the chemical companies are very interested too, so they can say their products are "safe" for children...

Besides... These people are VOLUNTEERING to do this. They aren't being forced into it, like concentration camp victims...
