I came on here looking for a thread about the documentary Religious by Bill Mahr (or however his last name is spelled) and was surprised there wasn't already one. So have you seen it? What do you think by his points? I know in the beginning when he was interviewing that senator and he made a comment about how it scares him that the rulers of our country believe in talking snakes, and the senator made a comment back about how you do have to take an IQ test to be elected into the senate, scared the shit out of me. (Holy run-on sentence!). Overall I think he made a lot of good points. And if nothing else, he would say things, just to get a response out of people, and they had no possible way of responding and that was when they got offensive. I think a lot of these people had never really thought before about why they believe what they believe. Opinions?
While entertaining, it didn't really prove anything except for that people will believe in what they believe in, know matter how ridiculous. I'm sure those crazy talking-snake-believing Christians think my belief in the power of psychedelic drugs is absolutely nutters.
I second this. It didn't prove anything, but it was amusing. I love listening to Bill Maher talk (even though I can see why people find him annoying). If you don't take it so seriously, it's actually quite good.
I think it was aimed to motivate those who managed to break through the 'religious' part of life to start doing something about those who still haven't. i mean the target group was not christians
It proved that the whole story of Jesus was copied from many past societies and their diaties. I did like how the actor playing Jesus came back with the three different states of water. But its a good movie.
Nutters, thanks for the new word Lol.....But for real the world is crazy and certain religons help while others make it completly crazier. Lol Religons interest me though so thats something id like to watch...Thanks amigos
I'm a big bill maher fan, I don't think they've released it in Australia yet though. I reckon I'd enjoy it. I love seeing Maher talk about religion.
It was pretty funny the way he just attacked all these religions. Was Buddhism in there? I remember my brother saying it was, and I really don't see how one can attack Buddhism like all those other religions based on myths.
