How stable is DMT freebase? The only thing stopping me from buying a gram of DMT is the concern that it would degrade slowly, as I've read someone on here say before that freebase salts arent stable at all. I would be storing half of it probably for a few years (in a vile wrapped in tin foil). Thoughts?

I heard you can make it a hydrochloride for storage, then free base it again when you wanna do it....don't take my word for it though

HCl isn't a good salt to store it in because it's hard to crystallize. You could use the FASA method to convert it to DMT fumarate, though. Then when you want freebase again, you could just convert it back with NaOH.

So the freebase will degrade quickly then?

SWIM had his in his freezer for about 8 months with absolutly no noticable loss of effect. SWIM said 20mg was enough to trip still and 50mg felt like a brain pop :p

Keep in mind I can't use a freezer, I'd be storing it in an airtight vial wrapped in tin foil at room temperature.

Not ridiculously quickly, but yes. It mostly degrades into DMT-N-oxide, though, which is still active, but it's not DMT.

Keep it sealed up and maybe with some desiccant in a larger container to catch the moisture. Every time I have DMT, I keep most of it as Freebase. I do convert some over to the fumarate salt for oral/nasal usage. So you should be okay will a little/to no degrading if you seal it up right.

Is DMT -N- oxide less potent or give different effects?

That may explain why my last batch of DMT I bought seemed VERY hard to breakthrough on (never broke through). I would take 3 strong hits out of a pipe and just get partial ego loss which would make it uncomfortable.

It's actually more potent by weight, but different effects. Apparently you can convert it back to DMT fairly easily with excess zinc dust in an aqueous pH 3 solution.

Do you know what the different effects of it are?

It's supposed to have more body load & not be quite as smooth. It's also much more harsh than straight DMT.

By dissolving it into a dilute HCl solution. But good luck crystallizing it. DMT HCl is notoriously hard to crystallize. This is why they came up with the FASA method.
