where there doesn't appear to be one. i don't know what could have caused what im about to attempt to describe, i have a lame theory (reaction to extreme temperature?/god?) if so i can't find anything in regards to this otherwise apparently paranormal eperience..as i was saying the basment in my old house would take on a particularily frigid temperature in the winter months, considering lack of heat..but what i want to know is if somebody can explain that which would cause a mirror, a fairly large mirror,to all of a sudden start shaking with a ferocity that would surpise the hell out of whoever decided to stumble upon it?..i can honestly say that it was one of the most interesting/terrifying things ive ever seen, and am in no hurry to experience this (phenonmenon?) again..but it makes you wonder...

The mirror's in the basement ? Potentially all sorts of possible explanations, from traffic to pipes, maybe even foundations shifting ? Any machinery nearby, including things like deep freezers ?

Hows the mirror fixed ? Hung on the wall ? Freestanding ? Balanced on top of something that might vibrate ?

The thing to do is to try to eliminate all possible natural explanations. Then see what's left.

yeah i know what you're saying. basically though it comes down to nothing certain. what could have caused it? (other than these illogical suggestions about trains and giants and whatever). it was put up on the wall, completely hanging, and i took it down and leaned it up against the bureau and thats when it started shaking. hm. i guess there aren't any explanations..?

It could have just been your mind tripping out on you before. I've had weirder things happen to me.

On the contrary, possibly a very clear explanation... your moving the mirror started it all off [dont worry about why it did].

Put it back where it was, it obviously liked it there.

So today I was walking, and i passed by the bus stop and i saw a girl i assumed to be Muslim with a head covering on, turban, whatever, so i said "Praise Allah! Praise be to the God most high." and she laughed/blushed. i kept on walking and a few minutes later a smoke basically just fell out of the sky.

Yeah God's giving up, dumping his stash. Or so Jesus told me

  14. Assuming you're telling the truth, ferocity is a characteristic of something which is alive. So something living would have to have been shaking the mirror.

Ice quake. If it's in the winter. We lived in the country on top of a hill where the ground would freeze and unfreeze and shift and rumble and shake things in the house. The vibration could have been transferred to the mirror which would shake more violently because there is much less to restrain it since it is just hanging there on the wall and not bound by earth and brick like the surrounding ground and walls.
That or you have some one trying to get your attention. ;)
I'd say ice quake, though. At least be aware of it as a possibility before you get freaked out. If other stuff starts happening, well, you might have something else going on.

hey, does this happen at various times throughout the year? is it common where you live? does it mostly occur periodically mostly throughout the winter months in a specific area? what causes this? enough questions. someone suggested a mouse earlier on, oddly enough, suggesting maybe it was shivering and or/nibbling the corner of the frame. strange things happen. why?

Ice quakes happen whenever the ground is frozen or has a period of freezing and thawing.

    Yes.

    Yes.

When things freeze, they expand. The ground is no exception, except the expansion has no where to go, so just like a real earthquake, the compression and friction eventually causes fractures in the ground or shifting to relieve the pressure. We may hear a rumbling or just feel a vibration. Things may shake violently in the house that are not stationary.

Ask as many as you like. Someone's bound to have an answer or at least discuss it with you if they don't. :)

    Could be. Anything's possible.

Who knows? When I say anything's possible, I do mean anything! Isn't the world just marvelous? :cheers2:
