Alright, although the first time I did acid was almost a year ago, I have never documented my trip and thought I really should after reading some interesting ones here. And even though it was so long ago, I remember my first encounter with this substance all too well. So I guess without further ado:

It was October 25th 2008 and I had been looking forward to this day for a week. It would be my first encounter with psychedelics of any sort and I felt ready to see the pretty colors and warping walls. At about mid-day, me, my roommate (also a first timer, from here on referred to as A) and my close friend and neighbor (from here on referred to as B) who convinced me all decided that it was time. We went to B's apartment where each of us took 2 hits and waited for something to happen. About 30 minutes in, I remember a tingly feeling going through my body and I started to get nervous, and began to think to myself "what have I done, am I ready for this?" But this feeling vanished almost instantly as B grinned widely and shook my shoulders exclaiming "it's coming!"

At the one hour mark I was unable to control my laughter and could feel my mind struggling with what was about to happen. A and I returned to our apartment to put on a coat and go to the bathroom. Everything to me was hilarious and I felt complete joy manifest me. B soon arrived and told us that we should go to the dollar store to pick up some fun toys. The walk to the store was great, it was as if I was going outside for the first time, the air smelled so clean and the wind felt refreshing on my face. We arrived at the store and proceeded to look for some cheap fun, I remember as I was going through the aisles that I didn't feel like I was walking, but instead floating through. After we purchased are loot (toy army men, bubbles and rubber bouncing balls) we walked back to B's apartment where the fun began.

We returned to B's apartment about an hour and 45 minutes into the trip, and things were starting to get wonderful. Nearly 10 minutes after we got back to the apartment, B's roommate (and another close friend) came in and learned of our journey that we had embarked on. He was curious to trying the drug himself and asked so many questions to which I usually would respond with laughter and muddled explanations of what was happening. He reccomended that we watch a music DVD of jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, we all decided that it was a great idea and put in the DVD. We also decided to load up a couple bowls of weed to stop us from trembling and calm us down.

After we smoked and had been watching for about 10 minutes, I started to feel different and unconnected to what was going on. All I could hear was the clashing of the thunderous piano, and by then we had broken into the bubbles we had purchased from the dollar store, and when I looked at the bubbles, I saw them sparkling and duplicating. All that I saw and heard however was dwarfed by what was going on in my head; it was obvious now that this was going to be much more than merely "pretty colors and warping walls" as I had imagined it would be.

After the DVD was over, B's roommated had to leave for a jazz gig and I felt like I was going to seem him again, but in a different existence and as a person that I hadn't met before. We three went downstairs to B's room where we decided to make our own music. We recorded everything we said and played and I was so happy to be with my friends making beautiful music. I couldn't play the guitar in the way that I was familiar with, but instead was awe-struck by the sound of discordance, swearing that each of these notes blended into eachother making completely new sounds that rattled in my ears. The jamming continued for a while and then we thought it would be a good idea to go to my friend's percussion concert.

We stopped by my apartment first to grab something to eat. Eating an apple was the most incredible thing, it was so juicy, tasted so fresh; it felt like I was eating for the first time. We all walked over to the music hall to watch my friend play marimba accompanied by clairinet. When we arrived I saw people that I was familiar with and felt so happy to see them, forgetting that most of them were completely unaware what I was going through. I felt like everybody knew I was on acid, but they were fine with it. The concert began and I watched, mesmerized by the mallets as the two he was holding quickly turned into 10 or 20, tracers galore. The sound was beautiful. The two instruments seemed to speak to eachother, trading off things to say, very much conversing. I lost all awareness that I was in a different frame of mind than everyone else; I thought everyone was hearing what I heard and comprehending it the same way. I talked too loudly during the piece and was told by my companions I should probably be quiet. After the concert was over I congratulated my friend on his performance and returned home.

I would say I was about 7-8 hours through my trip at this point and was starting to go in and out of the trip, having sudden moments of clarity, then right back into the world I had been in throughout most of the day. This was strange, especially when I was by myself showering. After I got showered and re-dressed, I went outside to find that there was a pretty big party going on. I mingled, confidently talking to people I had never met, then confusing them by saying something they found odd. I met back up with my 2 travel companions back at B's apartment and we decided to smoke again. I was starting to come down, and felt a feeling of returning home, but being slightly disappointed that it was happening so soon. After we smoked, we decided to seperate and go to sleep. I went back to my apartment and listened to Shpongle's Tales of the Inexpressible and fell asleep to the music.

I awoke the next day with a sense of refreshment and enlightenment. This truly is an extraordinary drug and my first encounter with it has been my most favorite so far.

Sorry for the novel, thanks to those who read!
