All presidents are celebrities! A celebrity is a household name, it's someone who is famous. Obama isn't famous for showbizz. Kids don't walk around in Gordon Brown Tshirts, either because the guy's a twat or he just isn't as cool as Obama. Saying kids wear Obama T's because he's a celebrity is like saying 'kids wear Obama T's because he's famous.'

:( Why have people already forgotten that Bush started a war that murdered and wounded millions of people?! And it wasn't just America that went to fight.

Don't you elect your own politicians? Why or why did the brits support Blair and why do they still send him a check? Or is your problem with the fact that Obama is a black?

What exactly was it with Blair? Did you think he was cute?

    gardner,

sorry man, did you even read this post?

I have no problem with obama being black - in fact I have no problem with obama, he doesnt run my country.

and yes, in the uk we do elect our own polititians, hmm maybe thats debatable - but its not got as bad as the US yet.

As for liking that cute little blair - I guess not many do. As for paying his cheques? - dont America pay that for him now as his little reward for standing shoulder to shoulder with bush?

Do children over there wear blair t-shirts?

Yeah we do sign Blair's checks, but most Americans don't realize that. Kind of like the insurance payoffs we getting ready to approve. We don't want government messing about, but we allow them to pay off their friends and croneis.

Never seen a Blair t shirt over here. Might have been a few around in 2001 or 2.

but DO the kids over there wear his face on their shirts?

I think this topic never really stuck to its origanal question did it

I am not sure Obama can ever compete for the hearts and wallets of the UK. Blair sold his soul and that of the UK for cheap. I really have a problem paying pretty Tony anything. I don't think he adds anything to the peace discussion in the middle east. The Israelis think he's lame, the arabs don't even acknowledge him, yet he draws a salary of over 3 million every year.

80 million for speaking engagements...unreal, they don't even have to break a sweat. Why do they recieve so much for single engagement? And his wife why is anyone interested in what she says? Was he unfaithful?

    I guess celebrity is everything.

ouch, i never realised he earned that much.

the gall of the man is amazing, I have no idea where he lives now - if its in the uk then I guess a he spends a lot on security.

the sad thing is I actually voted for the man back in the 90's - I was young and just come of voting age and labour seemed a more tasty morsel than the conservative dinners we had been fed.

it was, i guess, a good lesson to learn as a few years after him taking role as the PM, labour changed to new labour and we got the same tastless scraps as before.

I still think the way that blair took the labour party and the uk made me the cynical bastard I am today - for good or bad - but I guess I should at least thank him for that

I seriously wish you would not keep repeating this line.
We've been through it several times now...and you are wrong.
I think you know you are wrong, but literally can't help repeating this cynical line, that is so far removed from reality you should be blushing.

To be fair, if it wasn't for the Iraq war, Tony Blair's good rep would be acknowledged more widely, imo.
Because of the Iraq war, people like you don't see anything positive in what he has done or is doing.

I have asked you to show some evidence neither the Israelis or Palestinians not liking him or thinking he is "lame", and he is achieving nothing.
I have a strange feeling you will pull up an out of date assessment of some people, on both sides, having reservations about TBs effectiveness.
They would have had good reason to have reservations because of the tainting of his reputation (because of the Iraq war and association with America).

Thankfully most people involved in the process can move on and accept what he is doing now is more than they may have thought.
Obviously some are never going to trust the man...but to say: "The Israelis think he's lame, the arabs don't even acknowledge him", is I believe you transferring your prejudices onto others.
But, please do prove me wrong (with more than a huff report from some nobody;).)

Its too bad Obama is not sports star. Can you imagine all of the money he would make from royalties from the sale of his shirts?
