Soul Fever by Marie Queenie Lyons, CD reissue of the 1970 LP, great soul album I added a video if you don't know her
Listenin to Bob Dylan and the Band recorded at the LA Forum on 2/14/1974 thanks to Wolfgangs Vault. Today is my 45th birthday and I am just gettin started with the rockfest. 1st Wild Turkey has been poured, lookin forward to about 20 more of them, lol.
Second Wild Turkey poured and now listenin to ELO live at Winterland on 2/14/1976. Some excellent tunes here, Fire on High, Flight of the Bumblebee, Showdown, etc. Always liked ELO. Not yer typical type band ya know.:cheers2:
Now into some Brian Auger's Oblivion Express recorded live from Winterland on 11/29,1975. Excellent jam band with the jazz fusion thing goin. Gettin ready for the next concert and the third Wild Turkey, just gotta decide what the next concert will be. So many choices from Wolfgangs Vault.:cheers2:
Now into a short 4 song set of Spyro Gyra. Love this band. Got into them late, in the mid 90's, but since then, I see them live every year here in Vegas. Maybe not rock n roll, but close enough. More of a jazz type thing, but then again, life isnt always rock n roll. But I am startin to ache for some of that loud guitar. Gotta do some more searchin. Oh, and sorry if I take up some space here, but I is just gettin started, and the thread doesnt seem to be to active. It will be good to look over this thread tomorrow, once I have gotten ripped and then crashed, and have forgotten half of what I listened to. A nice record of sorts, LOL.
Gettin a little nostalgic right now with Frampton live from the Oakland Auditorium on 8/31/1979. I see a nice Styx concert from Winterland on 1/28/78. Think that will be next. DAMN, need another Wild Turkey. Startin to go down too fast, and I still have to bbq some steaks here in a few hours. Tink I need to slow down, or, go to the store and get another bottle, LOL.:cheers2:
Charlie Daniels from the Oakland Auditorium from 8/21/1980 is playin now. Now this is the shit. Charlie is an icon of American history, and Tommy Crain is killer on the guitar. Saw Charlie live in 1982(and many other times later), but the 82 concert I saw was so killer. Alabama opened for him, and they were great. Alabama was more country, but they were still rockin with My Home's in Alabama, Tennessee River, and others. But then came Charlie, and he blew the house down. I am a southern rock junkie, and CDB deserves to be up there with all the other southern rock bands. Met Charlie later on in the 90's, and what a down to Earth man he is. But back to the point, Charie is rockin here with Legend of the Wooley Swamp, Lonesome Boy from Dixie, and many others, including the standards.
Ok, Charlie rocked the house down, now time for the one and only ultimate party band of all time, the J. Geils Band. A recording from the Oakland Coliseum on 3/22/1980. And dwink # 6 or 7 is now here, who knows and who cares, LOL:cheers2:
Now is Journey, from Winterland on 3/30/1974. Yeah, before they got the caterwallin of Steve Perry. This is Gregg Rolie and Neil Schonn. Prog rock at its best.:cheers2:
Now that the bbq is over with, and both football games are over with, its back to the rock and roll, and back towards the last couple of dwinks of Wild Turkey. So I just finished with 2 songs from Alabama live from 1982, My Home's in Alabama and Tennessee River, both great country rock songs. And now we is listenin to the first album from Quarterflash. Harden My Heart, Valerie, Cruisin With the Duece, and especially Williams Ave. Rindy was such a hearthrob of mine, and she could sing and wail on the saxophone, and hubby Marv Ross was a great guitarists. What a pair they were. Drink up all:cheers2:
