I run and grab the camera. I set it for video mode and use the zoom to get as close as I can to the monkeys I can see. The ones on my side of the river cannot be seen because of the dense jungle. I shot the video and got back to blazing. Life is good. http://picasaweb.google.com/seedguru/9409#5378196503884853394
Reminds me of when I was in Sri Lanka and almost got attacked my a screaming monkey. I through a rock at it though to see it run but it didn't. Just quickly started high pitch shouting at me and moving weird like you see in the movies....violent lil things
Thanks Yes, I have been pretty busy lately. But I still have not given up on this place. Belize, actually. Not me. I have traveled all across Mexico. But not in a motorcycle Then check to video section of HF. I have monkey video in the video forum, http://www.hipforums.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=2134 The embedded function does not work as their is 3 videos. But click my link in the post and you will get a better look.
Thanks. I had a few standoffs with large monkeys over the years. But these are Howler Monkeys. They stay in trees all of their lives. They are small little things that pack a heck of a noise. We also have spider Monkeys but they are even smaller. Thankfully Belize does not get the big apes. Thank you. One did poop in its hands and trow it at one of my dogs that was barking at it. The monkey crap beamed my dog in the nose. But again the dog was provoking him. But what happened in that video started and went on for a few minutes before I could get to me camera. One male grunted the wrong way at another male across the river. That started the fussing.it escalated as I shot the video. I turned off my camera because I had to get ready to do some business. So I was hitting on the pipe and just tripping on all of this when I hear more noise. Apparently the fussing between the two males attracted the attention of other tribes on both sides of the river. So the noise gets louder and I realize there are literally hundreds of monkeys around. They are all acting bad ass. Anyway that was about 5 minutes after I put the camera down. At this point I am running inside my office to get the HD video camera. I came out got a some more footage. Then all the monkeys just got bored and went back to eating leaves or sleeping. Unless you provoke Howler Monkeys they will not mess with you. Usually they avoid all humans. But they are used to me,
It is very pleasant. They kind of give me perspective on life. I do not know how many times I would go out to my deck, being stressed out with life. Then I look out and some monkey is hanging by his tail upside down while eating a snack of leafs. Monkeys have it all figured out. They make living in a difficult place more enjoyable.
yeah they definitely know how to live i think humans could learn a lot from "animals" keeping in mind that in all reality humans are animals
