Why can't non-pot heads see the shit we do?

So I'm in a chatroom and we were all talking about the Showtime hit WEEDS. I said, if you smoke pot you will understand the show better. 2 people that don't smoke pot at all contested my arguement saying they got it just fine and you don't have to smoke reefer to get the show. Okay cool, you get the show but you would understand it more IF you smoked pot. They still continued to disagree, I continued to tell them the same, they don't smoke they don't get what I'm saying. Still more disagreeing. Finally I just said fuck it and stopped typing.

 

Did you ever think they might be right? Or it just didn't matter cause they liked the show anyway?

Oh. Most of these threads here have some sort of substance or purpose, that's all. When you make a thread, it usually means you do care.

 

i dont like the show at all .. and I smoke more pot than prolly, all the posted above combined..

 

Just cos someone says they dont smoke pot or have never smoked pot, doesnt make it true

I think most shows about drugs anyone can understand and relate to. drug use may change you view or make one relate differently but non-use don't make you not-relate or not understand.
Did you think some of the people may not smoke pot, but may have at one point and are not as ignorant as you seem to think.

I think that Fear and Lothing may be an exception where drug use would help one to understand the charasters more

 

I don't think if you smoke or not makes much of a difference in how you veiw the show. I think it's more if you deal or not that makes a difference.

 

I think you're right.
The show is obviously written for an audience of stoners.
A person who doesn't smoke watching Weeds is exactly like me watching a British comedy.
Naturally, some of the jokes are going to fly right over my head.

 

To be honest, Weeds isn't really a show you need weed to understand clearer, in fact I enjoy it more when I'm sober, unlike most stoner shows/movies.

Now if you want a *real* good example:
Yellow Submarine

Though I completely agree with the topic title, people who don't smoke weed do not truly understand it, and that's why legalisation is so hard, because until some stoners get in power, nothings going to be done.

I'm starting to think tho that the show is flushing the legalization of weed further down the toilet.

 

Weed, shrooms, any other drug is just a life experience. It won't give you some third eye on your forehead or any other profound, spiritual insight; those insights were already within you. They will, just like any other life experience, give you more experience in life and help you relate to and understand certain things better.

Weeds is not a show I feel you need to be experienced for.

 

I have to say that I did understand a lot more about music, movies, TV and books after I tried a few drugs. I am not saying you have to do drugs in order to understand, but you will understand it on a whole other level if you do. This does not mean I expect everyone not to experience any forms of entertainment that are drug related in some way but I think you will find a lot less forms of entertainment thoughout the ages that has not been influenced by drug use. I can tell you for a fact that if you had a stack of rock music that was not created by someone who uses drugs of some kind at one point or another would be very small.

 

I don't care for the show, but it being called Weeds will attract people.

The show isnt even about weed anymore. i still like it though. it has nothing to do with the fact that i smoke weed

I do not smoke Methamphetamine, but i still think Breaking Bad is a great show.
