Today I held my Billy Bob as a dumb vet botched his euthansia. He had a stroke last night at seven pm. I held him all night and as long as I held him he slept. Called the vet at 8 am and was scheduled for 11:20am. Got there and they made me bring him in and weigh him, then the vet botched it and he started to struggle, so she gave him a sedative. Thing is she did the injection of the sedative left the room and I had to hold him and settle him down while he fought the sedative and then ten minutes later she entered and did the deed. I promised him it would be easy.

Needless to say I won't be going back to them.

    Had to vent. Sorry!

My Bob was a Lhasa cross, kind of a fat boy but devoted to me. He went everywhere I did. He hated cars and for a while puked everytime I took him to work with me. But he loved that place and when I got a rare day off he was disappointed when we didn't leave at 8 am.

My house is very empty now.

Sometimes I think they hear the music from the other side of the bridge and wish to follow. But Billy Bob was my heart and soul.

He was never like my kid. He was more like the closest type of friend you can have.

:( Aww. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that!
My dad had a dog that was like the closest kinda friend you could have. My dad drives a semi and he'd always take him with him. Towards the end of his life, he threw up all the time in the truck, so dad left him at home. He passed away while my dad was gone....I'll never forget the look on his face when he got home and realized his best friend was gone.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss and hope that you realize that you will see him again one day in "Dog Heaven", along with me and my dogs too... It is important to note that he will live forever here on earth with you as long as you remember him in your heart and soul.

By the way, it is not your fault for choosing a dispassionate veterinarian, for there are many of them out there, yet the love of your dog is eternal and no one can take that away from you or your dog.

losing a loved one is always difficult. i have a 15 year old beagle who is as sweet as they come (hence her name being Sugar). i've had her since the age of 12. its hard to think that her passing may be sooner than later just because of her age, but shes doing really well, and thats the best I can ask for.
best wishes to you and yours!

I'm so sorry... but, can anyone say Lawsuit. that's still malpractice and it caused you poor doggie suffering in what was supposed to be a peaceful last moment of his life. that's unacceptable.

again, I'm so sorry for your loss, it's hard loosing someone close to you but almost harder losing a pet.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Billy will always be a part of who I am. And someday when I cross the bridge I know he'll be there to greet me. That's my idea of heaven being surrounded and swamped by the the animals I've love in my lifetime. Never been much of a people person myself. There are a couple I hope that will be there.
