EPA WILL USE POOR KIDS AS GUINEA PIGS IN NEW STUDY ON PESTICIDES The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), led by Bush appointees, plans to launch a new study in which participating low income families will have their children exposed to toxic pesticides over the course of two years. For taking part in these studies, each family will receive $970, a free video camera, a T-shirt, and a framed certificate of appreciation. In October, the EPA received $2 million to do the study from the American Chemistry Council, a chemical industry front group that includes members such as Dow, Exxon, and Monsanto. The EPA's Linda Sheldon says the study is vital, because so little is known about how small children's bodies absorb harmful chemicals. As of press time, none of the EPA's employees are offering to have their own children take part in this research project. The Organic Consumers Association is calling on the nation's citizens to demand the EPA forgo this project before its scheduled launch in early 2005. I dont know what I think about this. The link you provided had no concrete evidence involving this action. Can you supply a link that links this up with the bush administration directl? (From a non-biased news source, maybe a government document that says somthing about this.) Any extra information will be greatly appreciated.
LMAO...Non-biased?! What like Fox News or the Bush adminstration! Let's see your "Concrete Evidence" proving me wrong! This reminds me of the time a guy with a video recorder filmed three large white cops beating on a skinny black teenage boy IN HAND CUFFS. The cops were found innocent of any wrong doing because of lack of evidence. Nevermind the video shown on TV and the boy's bruises. You can turn a blind eye all that you want to, but others may turn a blind eye on you if you ever become the victim.
Oh I see. You can't prove me wrong so you resort to insults. Why don't you go Cheney yourself. Evidence here: http://www.organicconsumers.org/epa-alert.htm
honestly, i see no chance of this ever happening.. and for $970 i think the parents would be the greater evil..
airforcedrew, i think your pretty naive to think that what you eat, is not poisened by the chemicals that were used to produce it. Look at the meat industry (although I am guilty because I am still a meat-eater), the way they pump the animals full of chemicals and keep them caged. You think that's healthy for you? The same with all of the vegetables that corporate owned farms produce, which is pretty much the majority. I've sort of resigned myself to the fate, that the food we eat is so processed and chemicalized, that there is really no way to eat natural or healthy anymore in America, unless you want to pay a lot of money to buy specially made natural foods, or import it from overseas.

Where the fuck did that come from? I said nothing of this, All what I was saying is that the source was biased. I know there is chemicals involved in the making of my food, but untill they throw a sugeon generals warning on it, I wont be too worried about it. Medication is a different story, (Maerk fiasco is what im referring to.) By the way, im from south carolina, I have some family that owns cattle ranches. In no way were the cattle caged there. I believe your thinking about people who manufacture veal cattle, yes now thats disturbing.
Thank you finally somone with some evidence. An EPA resource. And see how biased media turns the words around. What will I be asked to do? Participants are not required to use pesticides or to change any of their regular household routines or how they normally use bug sprays (pesticides). Allow two of our researchers to visit you at your home every 3 to 6 months for two years. If pesticides are used, notify researchers to arrange a time at your convenience to conduct study activities before and after the use of pesticides. The visit will take approximately 2 hours per day or per visit. Videotape (the video camcorder will be provided) some of your child’s activities and keep an activity diary about your child. Allow your child to wear a small watch size activity sensor during the study period. (Approximately 1 week every 3 - 6 months) Help to collect some samples of food and urine. Our research staff will show you how to do this and provide you with needed supplies. Keep track of your home pesticide and cleaning products use. Is there any risk to me and my family? No. You and your child will not experience any risks from participating in this study. We will not ask any parent to apply pesticides in their home to be a part of this study. You are not required to change any of your regular household routines. Researchers at EPA are very sensitive to issues associated with children participating in this study. The study protocol has been reviewed and approved by four independent institutional review boards for the protection of human participants. Why is this important? The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has pledged to increase its efforts to provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
I don't think he was talking about veal , just animal welfare in general..lumping most non organic non 'free range' farmers all together because this suits what he is saying. i think he does not like coporate big business evil famers ...but then again i maybe putting words into his mouth. Personaly i am a veggie and can see that the meat industry is cruel in many ways but they are not all that way ... all farming does damage to the enviroment in certain ways..and if god advocates full organic farming all around the world he is mad.. i guess he may say just some places
because it is run by the goverment it is not allowed to do anything good or is in the wrong ... I think Defra get a bad wrap as well.. http://www.defra.gov.uk/
And once again Andrew, it comes down to whom you will believe. The EPA, which is now staffed and controlled by appointees beholden to an adminsitration already exposed for it repeated lies and pandering to (wait for it) industry interests (note how many major corporations have funded this study for a clear example of trustworthiness of what you regurgitate from their public PR page above) or an oragnisation devoted to watchdogging those same corrupt corporate and political interests? Seems youre all too ready to believe it just because the EPA "explanation" says so, ignoring the fact that practice and PR are commonly known to be miles apart where big money is involved. This is precisely what i have long referred to in pointing out your readiness to adhere to the groupthink paradigm on just about any issue discussed on these boards. The media claimed bin laden was the perpetrator of 9/11, must be so (no questions, forensic investigations, nor legitimate body of evidence required for the sheep to accept it as fact), The EPA says its all oh so routine and nothing out of the ordinary and voila, must be so cause its "official". God almighty, its no wonder Bush got reelected if the public is so ready to call the watchdogs paranoid extremists while the money men laugh all the way to the bank. Truly astounding!
Ha watch dogs. I trust the epa, because if they put wrong information out, they get the shit sued out of them.
Oh your naivete is astounding. Sure, you see how far any law suit against the federal government now in the hands of one party across all branches is likely to get. Wake up little sheep and smell how easily you are being molded to believe just what they want you to believe.
