So, I got in my head that I want to write a proper pen to paper letter to someone; but I don't want to write it on plain boring white paper. Since I was out at the town centre anyway, I decided to pop into WHSmiths to see about getting some funky sort of paper to write letters on to send to people, as they are so much more personal than e-mails. Well, I was quite shocked to find that it is impossible to find nice writing paper at a shop that sells stationary products. :toetap05: This amused me in one way, as it'd be the most obvious place to look. But now I'm a bit stuck, trying to figure out where to find decent writing paper without having to buy it online somewhere and have it sent to me. I think the world has gone mad sometimes.
I think WH Smiths is one of those stores that have lost their way a bit... or been out-evolved and left behind, like Woolworths. Ours is a primary source for magazines, but the rest of the stuff they sell seems to be over-priced or - in the case of books, CDs, etc - so mainstream that they dont appeal.
What specific type of paper were you looking for? I struggle to believe WHS has NO writing paper at all...their website certainly does. Perhaps you were looking for something they never claim to sell (as far as quality is concerned). I'd say go to an arts and crafts shop.
