What do you guys think of the new album? I am listening to it right now on myspace, havent listened to it all yet. I really like sugar shack could be a great live jam and ocelot too.

I like a lot of the new songs. I can't wait to buy the album. I haven't listened to any of the studio tracks from joy yet, only live versions.

I like STFTFP and Sugar Shack the best. Not my favorite album at all,...maybe my least favorite.

Yea, I really try my best not to be overly critical of music, seems many of us who like this genre of music are for some reason.

I remember walking out of Hampton 09 and my brother asking me, " so what did you NOT like about the show" LOL, wtf?

I just listened to the title track and Sugar Shack. Pretty darn good. I think I prefer Undermind, and many of the classics based on these two songs but I have to listen to the rest of it and let it grow on me. The great thing about Phish is that they're true songwriters so even if their new album isn't an "improvement" upon anything they've done, it's always a great listen.

Cheers for the thread. I didn't even know they had a new one :)

Yep, Phish is ever-evolving . Wouldn't be much fun if they did the same thing over and over.

I got it. The songs are good but the album sucks.

I sort of know what you mean by that. The songs are all good and worth listening to in and of themselves but the entire album as a whole lacks synergy and united atmosphere.

I just heard a few tracks off the new album live, but it seems to me it started going downhill with Farmhouse...

i thought it was too singer/songwriter-ish. granted, sometimes i am in the mood for that sort of thing, but not usually... and i don't exactly associate phish with that sort of musical mediocrity. did like ocelot, though... also, stealing time from the faulty plan. aside from being happy that phish is releasing new material, i thought the album was pretty much weak.

I just been listening to all the shows I went to this summer instead of the new album. I heard most of them. I like Ocelot a lot.
Not the best studio album, but I thought Rift was the best.

the new songs are definitely better live than on the album. rift huh? it is a pretty sick album. i'm kinda partial to hoist tho... just a little wolfman action, y'know? :p
