Please can a moderator close this thread. J.Q is obviously too thick-headed for anyone to have a proper conversation with him, and above that he is throwing insults and abuse at those who try. If you wanted an atheist's response to this, there's an atheist board for that. But if you're posting in a Christian board, why do you not expect people to use the Bible for citations? Grow up a little.

I'd say search for facts yourself (which I saw you advertising somewhere, I certainly agree with you on that point), they're not that hard too find.

    Wow

I'm clearly not a Christian but I'm not open minded enough because I don't accept the bible as fact?

You can praise the bible all you like but it holds no weight in a discussion with me. I've studied it myself. I don't need verses from it repeated to me. I aint buy the shit the first time I read it, I won't buy it now.

I get proven wrong constantly and I have no problem admitting it when it happens. That's why intellectuals Love debating with me.

You care for the bible? That's your prerogative. The shit a book full of toilet paper to me.

If you cannot discuss something logically without use of a bible, that says a lot about YOU, not me.

    Lol I'm not a Christian.

So when these niggaz spend all their free lives living the Christian way, what exactly boggles you? Because to me that seems to imply exactly what I said. I could be wrong tho.

And how are most "black americans'" still in slave mentality? I beg to differ. If you look at our social systems, government, and big business / consumer relationships, most Americans are under a slave mentality without even knowing it. Race has nothing to do with it.

No-one said to accept the Bible as truth, but it is still an accepted historical source. And you asked for a question, so I gave the best answer I could from sources available. I feel I've been quite reasonable and not lashing back but you constantly belittle me and the things I love. And FYI, I consider myself an intellectual. I love debates and I love seeing what other people think, but I demand a little intelligence in response. I won't lash out and make personal insults when right now I could call you all kinds of things for attacking me personally. But this isn't really even a debate. It never was. It was a question asked in the Christian boards, which was answered but rejected by you. Because it was posted in the Christian boards I assumed you had at least an ounce of respect for the Christian holy book. If you really have a pathological hatred of Christianity and it's book, there are scores of forums on this site in which you can post these things where you don't have to insult the people on it. You know how this site can be, there are as many gibbering atheists who churn the anti-Christian wheel as there are mindless evangelists who ramble on. Maybe you and the gibbering atheists should meet up sometime and you'd have a little in common.

    Good point, I stand corrected.

To honey, I was starting to have respect for that post until you implied I'm an atheist because I don't believe what you believe.

Then again, I do have more in common with atheists than I do with Christians. I can understand why atheists are atheist being that I used to be one. But funny, I used to be Christian and cannot figure out for the life of me what would possess someone to go that path.

In fact, Christianity is what drove me to be an atheist.

I had to become an atheist to find God.

And yes, you read that right.

Okay, I apologise for labelling you an atheist. I stand corrected.
Maybe you think Christianity is not for you. OK, that's fine. But my problem is when you go to a Christianity board and tread the Christian faith into the carpet and spit upon every last thing I hold close to my heart. As I said, there are places where you can discuss your anti-Biblical, anti-Christian views, but I would appreciate it be kept out of the Christian boards. If you want to discuss the Bible, great,we're right here. But I take great offence at some of the posts you've made which show not even a shred of respect for me or my beliefs.

In a way that's kinda the same with me. If i hadn't left Catholicism and went through a wiccan stage I probably wouldn't have got to the point I am today. I had to go through being a pagan and believing all the things I used to before becoming a Christian again.

Yeah, because if we can't do that, then there is nothing true about the bible at all? Well that is false, here are two facts from the bible, Egypt existed and was run by the Pharoah and the Roman Empire existed.

So by your own logic, i can just as easily say to you, unless you prove that the Roman Empire did not exist, then everything in the bible is %100 true.

Both arguments are of course bullshit but i must ask, what was qouted from the bible in this thread that you found so hard to believe? so hard to accept there may even be other primary sources or physical evidence to support what was said?

I personally have no problem with you not being a Christian or not even liking the bible, i understand you probably chose this board because your topic is about Christianity.

I dont even have a problem that you disagree with the information and the source that was posted. What bothers me, is first of all your attitude is downright silly and disrespectful. And finally you spout on about being intellectual and us being emotional, yet you cannot not offer any intelligent reasoning behind rejecting the information that was presented to you in an intelligent way. No instead you resort to emotional reasoning and argument.

You give us no points to contend, and you contend none of ours except with the single point "not everything in the bible is true, therefor nothing in it is true. " This is tiresome, insulting, boring and is far from intellectual, though you seem to believe it is.

LMAO so let me get this straight.

If someone writes a book full of bullshit, it is no longer bullshit as long as some of the things in it are true?

    Wow.

I would expect a scripture that is supposedly written by God, who does not lie, to contain Truth and nothing but Truth. If it contains anything else, it is not the word of God.

    Period.

    Fail, please try again.

That's a great argument... if I was trying to convince you it was written by God. All I am saying is that the Bible is not completely useless as an historical source, despite your "intellectual" rhetoric on why it is not supposed to be mentioned as such.

The bible is useless as a primary Source. It may be useful if used in conjunction with more credible Sources but other than that, the bible is useless to anyone who doesn't already believe in it.

Most people who believe the stories in the bible already made up their minds to believe it prior to even reading it. Being that a lot of stories in it make absolutely no sense to those of us looking at it from an unbiased point of view, that takes away from the credibility of all of the stories in it. Especially stories that depict human beings doing things that isn't humanly possible. God is unlimited and so are we at our core but as human beings, there is certain shit you just can't do such as walk on water or snap your fingers and turn it into wine. The shit didn't happen.

If you're not trying to convince me the bible was written by God, good job not wasting your time nor mine.

    I aint waste your time.

You're just hurt because I shut whatever point you were trying to make down.

I'm pretty sure if I looked hard enough I could find some Truth in the story of Snow White, that don't make the shit a credible Source.

If you don't get it, just say so

    Don't get what?

    What is there to get?

You're saying the bible isn't totally bullshit because not everything in it is a lie. Your rationale behind saying this is if according to my logic it's bullshit because it contains lies, it is credible because it contains Truth.

Am I totally off here? If so, feel free to correct me.

All I'm saying is being that every story I've read in the bible was a fairy tale, I don't accept it as a credible source the same way I wouldn't accept a Dr Seuss story as one. The only real difference is Dr Seuss doesn't offer you a "heaven" to go to if you believe what he says.

I can't be bothered wording what has already been said properly. Anyway thanks for your thoughts on black Christians, you've won the thread.
