Ok so i have read your hair only has to be 3 inches to dread but if you want to be able to backcomb im asuming it would be difficult if your hair was this short???? what length would be ideal from your guys experience????

to be honest, you could do it now, but wouldn't have the best results.
    maybe t&r is better suited.
the other option is waiting a inch or 2, but if you dont mind sideshow bob hair, go for it.

I agree with brew. Do you have your heart set on backcombing? The underneath of my hair was around 3 inches and it fell out of the backcombing and did even around 6 inches. I then twist and ripped them and htey stayed in better.

maybe you could start the process now by:
-using non-residue shampoo, baking soda, or just water to wash
    -stop brushing
    -wait a few more inches
-keep it sectioned when knots start forming
you may have a better chance this way if you want to backcomb

i backcombed with only like 3.5-4 inches, i threw some rubberbands on the tips tho. A lot of people say not to, but i switch them up every 4-5daysish. But yeah you could just backcomb now.

i guess if you're gonna use rubber bands, that's ^ the way to do it. but, don't neglect your rubberbands people.
