Do you decorate the whole house for the holidays? Are your decorations mainly a religous theme with angels & candles or do ya stick with non-religous winter theme like stars, snowmen, snowflakes or do ya like the commericalism stuff and decorate with lots of santas & reindeers
My family and I just about decorate the entire house for Christmas. We have a good combination of both religious and commercial items. I prefer mostly religious ones myself, but I like a few commercialized items such as these I cannot resist my little s'more ornaments!
we don't usually go overboard with the decorations; a few strings of lights on the trees outside, and i always cut some evergreen boughs to make homemade wreaths for the fence and door. the tree doesn't usually go up til dec 15 or so.
I never bother .. i live with my brother and he decorates his room ... but me i can't be bothered bahh humbug.
I really like your s'mores ornaments Epiphany. Those are so cool. I have a combination of decorations. It's not that I stick to a theme I just sorta put up what I have or what has been given to me. I do like my tree with white lights. We have to get a real tree. It's a tradition for us to go out in the cold and hunt down a tree like the Griswald's. Normally one of us will see the "glow" above the tree and that is the one we cut down. Another tradition of ours is to go get our picture taken with Santa at Christmas Village. It's a place that has been decorated with over a bizzilion lights. It is quite amazing to look at. I love Christmas time. I love the excitment it brings especially for the children, my children. We bake cookies Christmas Eve and write Santa a wish list. We are going to run with it for as long as we can.
not really a decorator. last year our christmas decorations were all sent to us in boxes by my mother. we taped some garland up on our door in the shape of a tree. and laid a blanket down in front of it for the presents. we'd found out that we were suddenly supposed to host the xmas dinner. had to do something. but now i have a daughter. should probably start getting in the swing of things.
I love the marshmallow ornaments We usually have my brothers put all the lights up on the house and on the trees, we have a big christmas tree (artificial) with all of our ornaments we've made throughout the time we were in grade school and the old store-bought ones (mainly big different colored balls...still waiting for someone to make a joke about the big different colored balls ). We have lots of little things hanging around the house, mainly living room, and in the family room (middle room) we have our stockings and the.....shiny stuff!
when I do move out of my my fiancees father's house im going to be the type of person who decorates the entire house. I mean the whole shebang.from the living room throw pillows to the kistchen towels. I'll mix up the religous with the non religous.
we're not christian, so we dont do the whole baby jesus thing around here. i lean towards earth based religions, so that's reflected in the decorations that we put up. we do a fake tree, and all the tinselly garlandy things, some wall hangings, lots of lights, stockings. hm, i just remembered that i promised to knit a stocking for my husband this year. he has some crappy falling apart felt thing from when he was a kid...it's full of sentiment but it looks like hell.
both my grandma and my godmother got me year ornaments untill I was 18 and since than my godmother sends me ornaments that go with whatever gift she thinks I currently posess one year she got me the angel of creativity one and last year she got a gift of knowledge one. My grandma's tree's are always stunning though she has not sentimental ornaments but this set that ws made in germany so they all go together but at both houses I am never allowed to help decorate because I have broken too many in the past. We only have a tree when we were religous when I was a kid we would have all this nativity stuff up but thank god my mom realized early on that morals don't equal religious.
well-since staying with my parents, and my mom collecting santa's (she has at least 300 or more) christmas is almost a year round occassion here. I swear there is at least 10 santas up year round. It drives me nuts. She decorates to the max. When I was married and had our own home, I decorated non religious, using the girl's decorations they had made in school, sadly enough tho, when their dad was packing up his shit, he took most of that kind of stuff knowing that his new bitch would more than likely not allow him to put it up, so it sits in his storage along with all my halloween decorations too. ( I might add that I have asked for this stuff back, but he denies having it, ha on him, my daughter has seen the stuff, so I figure he must need it more than I do so its really no biggy anymore) It's all good tho, the girls and I will start a new tradition as soon as I can afford to finally move out and get out on our own.
I love going nuts with lights... I want one day to have a lit up house like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!
